with the whole disorder thing, i keep thinking about how 90% of the time i get sympathy for my eczema (half the time from medical specialists who know exactly what eczema is), it's of the "wow, society is so cruel, you're still beautiful with your skin and i wish society accepted that!" sort. and i'm just going "??? i don't give a fuck about society, I just want to not be in pain ALL THE TIME" It's just, don't just assume that someone's suffering is purely society's fault and they "don't (c)
(c) need to be fixed because you’re already perfect~” and that bullshit. sometimes that’s needed and is REALLY GREAT, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes disorders and disablities are actually really fucking shitty by themselves and need to be fixed. fuck, i’d argue it’s ableist to ignore that fact. so i feel like you’re entirely in the right to get annoyed that someone was trying to erase that.
yesss thank you like there are a lot of things that are treated as horrible that shouldn’t be, but there are so many things where there is a legitimate problem that shouldn’t be brushed off in the “just accept yourself the way you are uwu” kind of way
