i genuinely think a lot of people's issue with the chapter is that it didn't look like the chapter 5 they were idealizing in their heads. i think a lull in action is necessary at this point in the story, i think some extra time in the light world did us good, and i think this chapter set up some good dominoes to knock down in 6 & 7.

we also get a lot of development with kris and ralsei! ralsei is transitioning and also figuring out how to be a little more "ralsei-like", i loved her hater era and was hyped to see her use fire magic.

HYPE ABOUT THE SECRET BOSS. im gonna have to spoiler tag that too. HYPE ABOUT THE SECRET BOSS. PINK ILY. ILYSM PINK. the weapons were also done really neatly :> excited to see what the brokenscarf becomes.

i loved the flowers a lot, and i'm so sad it's a one-time thing, but i do feel it's for the best. i think we might see blue again (blue roses yada yada, he seems like he's weirdly powerful also) but that's really the extent of it.

susie didn't have bad writing. misogynist ass fandom. she tried femininity and adapted it to her own style. she's slightly tunnelvisioned on her romantic interest. she's grappling with liking kris and noelle at the same time.

(bravely) i think the new chapter of deltarune is going to be about the main characters instead of wingle dingle or the final boss. i think this next part of the game is going to be about the teenagers the game is about.

the thing about the flowers is like. it's hard to go anywhere new with them, yeah? for the most part they're relatively stagnant characters (ie, not much development, not like. boring.) and "thank you for watching my dream" was a fitting end to their story. flowery wasn't going to be happy with that, but he died. his story is complete too. and while i don't think it's impossible by any means to expand and flesh out their characters and write new stories with them, i think a lot of people in the fandom are going to struggle with it and shy away from it.
