Okay, so, I just thought of an OMORI AU. I have no idea whether this has been thought of already, so tell me if it has. This will include spoilers for the game.

Okay, so, I’m calling this the Ghost AU. Basically, Mari accidently gets pushed down the stairs like she does in game, but she comes back as a ghost. And she’s a visible ghost. So what happens is she’s just standing there, looking at her dead body on the ground, trying to process what just happened. Sunny comes down the stairs, terrified, and Basil walks in, looking equally as terrified. Basil’s the first one to notice Mari is a ghost now, and he points it out to Sunny. Once he sees Mari standing there, he starts to calm down a little. Mari then tries to figure out what to do. She’s dead, and they’re supposed to go to the concert tonight. She decides to call Hero, because honestly who else can she talk to. Thing is, she can’t grab the phone, so she gets Sunny to do it. Sunny calls Hero, and he shows up, sees a dead Mari, then sees a ghost Mari, and just looks overall confused. Mari explains what happened, and Hero is just a little less confused. Mari asks what they should do, since she’s dead and there’s a corpse in the house. Hero suggests maybe she should try and possess her body, and so she does that. But, there’s a limited time to how long she can stay in the body each day. Which will soon lead to the rest of the gang finding out that Mari is dead and shit happens.

I literally thought of all this in the shower.

TL/DR: Mari dies like she does in the game, and comes back as a ghost who can possess her own body for limited amounts of time each day, leading to the rest of the gang finding out.

A moment of silence for all those Shiro cosplayers who worked so hard to either make or buy their wigs (You know how hard it is to get a color specific wig when half the time they’re sold out much less tear apart wigs to make that iconic undercut/white bang combo?) –only to have this space cadet go missing and come back with another haircut (AND OUTFIT).
