🎲 for scrimshander & twitch if you like?? :D (refs are in my art tag in my pinned post!)
(19 - an underwater kiss)
Its become unclear how it got to this point by now — who officially dared who, what the argument was about beforehand, whether you've decided you like or hate the softspoken stranger with a smile wider than even yours. You'd remembered to remove your coats, but not your hats, and its a miracle neither of you lost your glasses.
By the time you're ringing out your hair, and wondering why you did that, you're stuck unable to shake the the sense that something was... off. A feeling like that one you get when something terrible, hollow and ancient looms beneath your ship, waiting to swallow it up. You turn over the parting gift — an ivory bird, with eyes in its jaw and teeth in its beak — and try to shake the foreboding sense that the Scrimshander can hold its breath for a long, long time.
What is your favourite thing to draw?
crows, cockatiels, fat birds, wolves, stars and moons,,, my ocs,,
I love your stuff so much. This is dumb but like... how do you pick your colors? They all look so good together I'm like losing my mind over it
first of all, thank you for the kind words - i dont have much time to draw so im genuinely touched when people like the stuff i put up :)))))))!!not a dumb question at all - but i DO have a dumb answer anyway! i pick my colors by using whichever ones makes my brain pump out that sweet sweet endorphin sauce the most. usually thats red and black/greys but as of late ive been making a conscious effort to push my color choices, so im glad to hear someone likes it!
generally i work with values (monochrome) first before coloring anything - once you got the basic saturations/values down its a LOT easier to find colors that work together. look at lots of stuff that makes you excited, lots of palettes, lots of color theory, go ahead and rip palettes off my art even, play around with those online generators and use what makes you happy! learning coloring is so much easier when you LIKE it, and even mistakes are so valuable in seeing what does and doesnt work!
i personally dont think my coloring or painting is really up to snuff at all, and would definitely check out professional artists/painters to see what they do - i personally adore the kinda grotesque color choices in Watchmen and in van gogh paintings. although kind of an obvious choice, van gogh has really bizarre color choices and palettes that would be cool to try using in your illustrations.
sorry for the long response, but i love asks and like to be thorough. stay cool buddy
🎲 With Detective Doe ( @waterlogged-detective ) if you’re still doing them? (Human or diving suit whichever is easier)
(34 - Kiss After a Bite)
It started as a simple investigation, and an interview, you swear. All the usual overtures — an invitation to tea, a free evening, small talk before the real questions begin. You aren't sure at what point it caught your eye that it had far, far too many teeth, or the near silent way it breathes. Your questions started straying from origin to... anatomy. An invitation back to your quarters followed.
By the time the bite heals, it'll be a permanent scar. Its jaws were far stronger than those of any human you've ever encountered. You noted the moment when its singular silvery eye gained a second pupil, hazel iris, splitting like a cell. You stopped to document with strange curiosity its right-anchored heart, and the glowing of its bones beneath the skin. And the cobalt — its blood contains cobalt, not iron! You'll surely never forget the sharp, almost citrus taste — accidental, of course.
It left just as politely as it joined you, with a sharply curved scrimshaw fishhook, containing the shapes of eyes that Watch and howling wolves.
If you're still doing the kiss meme, either 🎲 or 21 (whichever you prefer) for Ockham (whose refs should be under #ockham ref) <3
(21 = dealer's choice)
It isnt long after you send that calling card that it all starts to make sense. Your steps lead back to the place between the dream, to the eye behind the socket, and the maw behind the lips. You find the unraveling that follows to be novel, to say the least.
You wake up feeling like that couldn't have possibly been a dream. What remains is a marble carved from bone in your pocket — lucky, somehow — and the taste of honey made by wasps, not bees, upon your Memory.
🎲 for a kiss with the apologist? (refs in pinned (mr stones will NOT be happy))
(7 = Romantic Kiss)
Mr Stones surely won't need to know of a fleeting evening burning candles with someone so strange, think nothing of it, or how it held your hand, six fingers wrapped around your five. It leaves you with a poem in a tongue you can't quite decypher, and a small ivory tusk carved into a mouse.

Ok…? Well I’m with a woman now so.
