ROBERT’S  REIGN  //  GAME  OF  THRONES  AU  GROUP  VERSE  .

plot  .  pre-verse  :  after  being  abducted  by  the  crown  prince  ,  rhaegar  ,  lyanna  stark’s  brother  &  father  are  brutally  murdered  in  king’s  landing  by  king  aerys  .  the  king  then  calls  for  jon  arryn  to  bring  him  eddard  stark  &  robert  baratheon  ;  robert’s  rebellion  ensues  until  he  wins  the  year  long  war  at  the  battle  of  trident  against  rhaegar  .  eddard  finds  lyanna  in  the  tower  of  joy  ,  alone  with  an  infant  boy  ,  &  he  leads  her  to  king’s  landing  to  meet  robert  .  once  there  ,  lyanna  explains  that  when  she  was  abducted  ,  she  was  already  with  child  &  the  young  babe  she  held  was  in  fact  robert’s  son  :  they  name  him  jon  after  jon  arryn  . 

the  lannister  bring  in  the  widow  elia  martell  ,  &  her   two  children  rhaenys  &  aegon  before  the  new  king  .  tensions  are  high  as  most  want  the  three  killed  ,  but  lyanna  pleads  with  robert  to  think  rationally  &  spare  their  lives  .  she  reminds  him  they  are  victims  of  the  war  as  well  ,  &  do  not  deserve  to  be  punished  for  association  .  robert  heeds  her  advice  ,  &  grants  them  peace  with  a  few   conditions  :  elia  is  to  return  home  to  dorne  ,  rhaenys  is  to  stay  in  king’s  landing  as  lyanna’s  ward  ,  &  aegon  is  to  live  in  winterfell  as  eddard’s  ward  until  he  is  old  enough  to  be  sent  to  the  wall  to  take  the  black  . 

present  :  king  robert  ,  &  queen  lyanna  have  two  sons  now  :  jon  ,  who  is  their  crown  prince  ,  &  his  younger  brother  gendry  .  rhaenys  is  being  raised  by  lyanna  within  the  walls  of  the  red  keep  which  still  causes  uncertainty  amongst  a  few  noble  houses  .  robert  demands  the  boys  to  stay  away  from  the  girl  ,  but  that’s  easier  said  than  done  .  aegon  is  now  coming  of  age  ,  &  will  soon  be  sent  to  the  wall  to  take  the  black  as  he’s  been  raised  to  do  by  eddard  .

“They won’t be happy with your decision,” she reminds him as she watches her brother, as though he wasn’t already aware of the fact. Nerves build inside of her, the idea that he will leave again, after working so hard to return to her and Winterfell. She doesn’t want this to happen, but what can she do? She can pray to the Gods and hope that, for the first time, they decide to listen to her when she begs for her brother’s return. That he will not perish as too many of them have beyond the walls that surround them now. It makes something in her chest ache. “But… if this is best, then I understand. I support you.”

            ‘ so... ’ her next words had to be measured carefully. missandei had given jon a very hard time when it came to his... attire. in the north, his attire was sure to be adequate, but they weren’t in the north. not yet. and the little scribe made sure to remind him of it daily, even if it was just as a joke. ‘ if i am to go north with you, will i get one of those mighty cloaks, like yours? perhaps... a white one? ’
