Honestly, why do you even bother, lol. She loves Dave a ridiculous amount. She’s toyed with the idea of finally asking to put a label on it, but she just genuinely likes how their relationship is now, and doesn’t feel like she needs the label in order to commit to him and be exclusive with him. In her mind, sure, she could call him her boyfriend or matesprit, but she kind of really enjoys him just being that person she’s in love with, her roommate that happens to be the only person she’s constantly daydreaming about at any given moment. In a weird way, given how badly relationships have treated her and the kind of sentiments she harbors for people who once held labels like boyfriend and matesprit, just “that person I’m unapologetically in love with” is a way more special title for Aradia to give someone. In her experience, you can be someone’s Official Romantic Partner but not have that be true; it’s always true with Dave.
