                      CROWNSHQ  TASK  001  :  TROPES .  

character  tropes  for  𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐲𝐣𝐨𝐲  !  (  definitions  below  ! )

OCEAN  AWE  :  i mean  .  .  .  she’s  a  greyjoy ! as  much  as  she  considers  the  north  her  true  home  ,  she loves  the  iron  islands  +  the  seas so  friggin’  much .   she’s  been  to  the  iron  islands  quite  a  few  times  but  even  those  visits  feel  far  and  few  in-between  ,  but  she  can  always  remember  the  feeling  of  the  waves  crashing  against  her  feet  &  the  smell  of  the  salt  in  the  air  as  clear  as  day .  she  definitely  prefers  her  greyjoy  home  to  the  north  ,  although  this  is  something  she  wouldn’t  admit  aloud  as  to  not  risk  the  offending  of  those  she  grey  up  alongside .

SPIRITED  YOUNG  LADY  :   she  fits  this  one  to  a  T  tbh .  alyse  has a  very  lively  personality  that  can  sometimes  always  come  across  as  domineering  /  aggressive???  but  really  she’s  just  excessively  confident  in  herself  and  quite  independent  -  minded !  also  .  .  .  v  outspoken  and  defiant  ,  but  hates  being  deemed  improper  or  disreputable  so  she  always tries  to  keep  that  prim  &  proper  image .

PERPETUAL FROWNER  :  need i say more  ,  ,  ,  alyse  has  probably  only  ever  genuinely  smiled  3  times  in  her  lifetime  ,  the  rest  of  the  time  she’s  flaunting  the  ol’  look  of  judgement / disdain .  someone  just  take  this  GRUMP  back  to  winterfell already .

BORN  IN  A  SADDLE  :  ok  i  adjusted  this  one  a  bit  because  horses  +  riding  are a  BIG  part  of  her  character  &  i  just  couldn’t  find  a  good  trope??? so  this  one  is  just  singularly  based  around  her  &  not  a  group  of  ppl??  -----  from  the  moment  alyse  could  walk  she  was  begging  to  be  thrown  in  a  saddle .  her  father  was  the  one  who  taught  her  to  ride  and  she’s  practically  lived  atop  a  horse  ever  since .  she  has  several  horses  back  home  ,  her  main  being  ‘  MORNING ’  a  grey  mare  that  was  bought  for  her  sixteenth  nameday .  

HONOR  BEFORE  REASON  :  honor  is  definitely  among  the  traits  she  picked  up  from  the  stark  side  of  the  family (  i  feel  like  she  would  have  Loved  her  grandfather  ned  stark .  thanks  for  coming  to  my  ted  talk . ) alyse  will  always  put  honor  before  self  -  preservation  ,  especially  when  it  regards  her  family  +  both  house  stark  and  house  greyjoy .  she  wanted  to  make  them  proud  ,  and  she’ll  accept  whatever  responsibilities  she  needs  to  without  much  fuss  when  it  comes  to  accomplishing  this .  i  also  feel this  is  her  downfall  ,  because ?? she’s  loyal  to  two  very  different  houses  ;  one  of  which  she’s  an  heir  to  ,  and  the  other  she’s  been  raised  alongside  her  entire  life .  alyse  vc  :  what DO ??  

ICE  QUEEN  :  ‘ she  attracts  but  will  never  be wooed ’  * chefs kiss. *   she’s  a  Frosty  Gal  ,  our  alyse .  she’s  not  big  on  meeting  social  demands  ,  carries  a  very  stoic  /  proud  persona  ,  and  can  put  up  a  cold  front  that  is  pretty  hard  to  crack  through  !  although  she’s  not  completely  heartless  ----   this  trope  also  changes  to DEFROSTING  ICE  QUEEN when  with  family  /  loved  ones  come  into  the  picture  ,  as  they’re  more  likely  to  warm  her  up  a  bit  &  thaw  that  icy  exterior.

hello  lovely  members  ,  and  welcome  to  𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐪'𝐬  first  task  !  we  wanted  to  do  something  fun  and  exciting  for  you  guys  ,  something  to  help  everyone  learn  about  your  characters  and  delve  deeper  into  their  backstories  !  and  what  better  way  to  do  that  is  there  than  to  explore  common  character  tropes  ?  this  task  ,  as  they  always  will  be  ,  is  optional  -  but  highly  encouraged  ,  as  it’s  very  beneficial  to  take  part  in  !  more  info  below  the  cut  ,  and  don’t  forget  to  have  fun  !

the  overall  goal  of  this  task  is  to  list  four  to  six  popular character tropes  that  your  character  identifies  with  .  you  can  find  tropes  that  match  your  character  here  !

you  can  showcase  these  tropes  in  any  way  you’d  like  !  simply  listing  them  ,  writing  about  them  ,  gifsets  ,  simple  pictures  ,  etc  ...  as  long  as  the  tropes  are  listed  and  their  basic  meanings  explained  (  and  tagged  ,  if  triggering  )  then  it  truly  doesn’t  matter  !

 𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐀 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐊          𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐒  .

this was supposed to look so much better but photoshop is a terrible  ,  terrible application  .

𝐁𝐀𝐁𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐇  :

rowena is the youngest child of four  ,  and she’s certainly the baby as far as age goes  ,  however  ,  she does circumvent parts of this trope somewhat  :  whereas the trope article notes they may act immaturely  ,  irresponsibly  ,  or otherwise eschew their duties  ,  rowena tends to uphold a sense of maturity beyond her years  &  will take a fair amount of responsibility on her shoulders  ,  even if she doesn’t need to  ,  sometimes to the point of severe stress  .  when it comes to matters of intelligence  ,  she isn’t lacking  .  still  ,  her brothers are mostly very protective of her  ,  and rowena echoes that same sentiment back to them  .  it could be said that the protection is necessary  ⁠—  especially now , in king’s landing ⁠ —  as rowena can be prone to naivety  .  her parents were honest with her about the ways of the world  ,  but it was never so harsh  ,  and sometimes without experience  ,  one doesn’t learn  .  she believes in the goodness of others above all  ,  or she so often tries to  .

𝐃𝐀𝐃𝐃𝐘'𝐒 𝐆𝐈𝐑𝐋  :

rowena loves both of her parents without a doubt  ,  but she was always especially close to her father  ;  her first word  ,  in fact  ,  was father  ⁠—  love  &  mother soon followed  ,  and soon after so did her brother’s names  .  the relationship between rowena  &  jon was one full of love  ,  encouragement  ,  and security  .  she’d often be found toddling after her father  &  eldest brother into meetings as soon as she learned to walk  ,  or when taken by fevers  ,  she’d cry for him  &  he’d be at her bedside as soon as he was able  .  his death  ,  of course  ,  was a disastrous event  ;  now  ,  when she needs her father  ,  she wanders into winterfell’s crypt and finds herself weeping in front of his statue  .

𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐙𝐎𝐍  :

she was not ready  .  she never would have been ⁠ —  no amount of time or preparation would have shielded her heart from the blades of grief  &  loss  ;  there would exist no world in which her father’s death did not equate to the breaking of her heart  ,  the loss of her sense of self  ,  or of the destruction of her world  .  though she has been trying her hardest to maintain a sense of normalcy for the sake of her family  ,  there is a noticeable change in the youngest stark  .  some part of her has been lost  ,  and does not seem intent upon returning  ;  even she can see the change within herself  ,  but she does not speak of it  ,  swallowing the knowledge in the hopes that one day things won’t feel quite so hollow  .  she has her betrothal to look forward to  ,  after all  —  a wonderful life with a husband who will love her  . (  which her father will not be there to witness  ,  the sorrowful voice in her mind corrects  .  )

𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐊 𝐇𝐈𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋  :

push her far enough  ,  and you may find yourself reminded that she is  ,  in fact  ,  a wolf  .  though she does not favor confrontation by any means  ,  and will often choose the path which avoids it  ,  not even she is a saint without anger  .  it burns hot  &  righteous beneath her breast  ,  contained in the furious pound of her heart  ;  surpass her boundaries and reap what comes of her wrath  .  most often  ,  you may get a severe lashing in the form of harsh words  ,  but a particularly disastrous or otherwise dangerous situation could prompt a more physical reaction especially if her family is involved in any way  .  keep in mind  ,  she is a prodigy with a bow  ,  even if she doesn’t showcase her talent  .  it’s also important to note she’s not prone to manipulation or cunning as the trope often suggests  ,  but that she prefers honesty above all else  .

𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑  :

the lone wolf dies  ,  but the pack survives  .  her family is the driving force behind 99% of what rowena does  &  how she interacts with the world  .  she places the utmost trust in her brothers  ,  cousins  ,  parents  ,  aunts  &  uncles  .  one of her biggest sources of anxiety is the thought of being away from her brothers and mother  ,  away from winterfell  —  they’ve always been so tightly knit  ,  it terrifies her to imagine a time where she won’t be able to run down the hall to her mother or one of her brothers to ask them something  ,  to hug them  ,  to check on them  .  this also means that she’ll subject herself to situations she otherwise wouldn’t for the sake of her loved ones  ;  for instance  ,  her betrothal  .  despite the fairly warm relationship between the tyrells  &  the starks  ,  she’s hesitant to live in highgarden  ,  so far away from the north  .  yet  ,  even more so  ,  this is what compels her to accept the betrothal  :  the betterment of relationships means more benefits to her family as a whole  ,  and so she buries her discomfort  &  nervousness under the insistence that it’s for the best  .

𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐋𝐎𝐘𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐘  :

as referenced above  ,  darling rowena possesses this in droves  .  her loyalty  ,  her northern honor  ,  it is nearly one  &  the same  .  her sense of loyalty is stronger than any valyrian steel blade  ,  and it can lead to extreme feelings of protectiveness that have only magnified in the face of her father’s death  ;  the downfall that comes with this is that once given  ,  she assumes it will always be reciprocated  ,  whether you’re family or friend  .

𝑳𝑶𝑹𝑫   𝑬𝑴𝑬𝑹𝒀   𝑶𝑳𝑫𝑭𝑳𝑶𝑾𝑬𝑹𝑺   ! 𝑻𝑨𝑺𝑲   𝑶𝑵𝑬   !

𝑻𝑯𝑬  𝑺𝑯𝑬𝑳𝑻𝑬𝑹𝑬𝑫  𝑨𝑹𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑶𝑪𝑹𝑨𝑻  . a  character  who  has  lived  a  life  sheltered  from  the  everyday  trivialities  which  the  lower  classes  have  to  contend  with.  in  this  way  they  are  pure  and  untainted  by  the  hardships  of  the  outside  world.

𝑺𝑻𝑼𝑷𝑰𝑫  𝑮𝑶𝑶𝑫  . a  character  who  is  "good"  to  the  point  of  being  unable  to  comprehend  that  someone  else  might  be  bad.  it  also  often  means  extreme  gullibility.  in  short,  goodness  without  using  any  sense  of  proportion.

𝑰  𝑱𝑼𝑺𝑻  𝑾𝑨𝑵𝑻  𝑻𝑶  𝑯𝑨𝑽𝑬  𝑭𝑹𝑰𝑬𝑵𝑫𝑺  . sometimes  fictional  characters  do  not  so  easily  get  friends  handed  to  them  with  the  plot.  they  are  lonely  from  the  start  and  desperately  looking  to  make  and  keep  friends.  they  may  either  try  to  go  about  it  in  the  wrong  way,  make  friends  with  the  wrong  people,  or  secretly  angst  about  it  behind  a  different  facade.  

𝑻𝑯𝑬  𝑭𝑨𝑺𝑯𝑰𝑶𝑵𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑨  . this  character  is,  quite  simply,  a  character  whose  defining  trait  is  being  well-dressed  and  extremely  interested  in  fashion  ( and  beauty ).

𝑾𝑰𝑫𝑬  𝑬𝒀𝑬𝑫  𝑰𝑫𝑬𝑨𝑳𝑰𝑺𝑻  . a  character  far  too  idealistic  for  their  own  good.  generally  nice  people  whose  idealistic  attempts  at  solving  the  problems  of  their  world  turn  out  to  go  horribly  horribly  awry  as  no  one  else  plays  by  their  rules.

𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑻𝑨𝑰𝑵  𝑶𝑩𝑳𝑰𝑽𝑰𝑶𝑼𝑺  . some  characters  are  so  completely  insulated  from  the  outside  world  that  life,  for  them,  is  very  different  from  life  for  others.  this  is  extreme  to  the  point  that  they  literally  have  difficulty  comprehending  that  life  could  be  different  for  other  people,  and  will  work  their  everyday  lives  under  the  assumption  that  all  people  view  life  through  the  same  lens  that  they  do.
