I feel like Court would suffer through so much uncanny valley bc every time he looks in a mirror, all he can see is the twins. And yet he looks different. His nose is more crooked from all the breaks. Small scars litter his body. His eyes are more colder, duller, more night sky than warm sea ocean.

It gets worse with the mutations because he now has feathers everywhere. He's taller (i imagine that the bird mutations made him grow). And parts of him internally has changed; he can make a wider variety of sounds (and it actually allows him to understand Eridian even faster).

Every time he looks in a mirror, he sees the twins. But he also sees himself, broken, bloody, but alive.

Since birds tend to smack into windows a lot (they can't see that it's glass and it makes me so fucking sad bc the birds get injured and die and i love birds and i can’t stand this) I want to make Court just smack into a lot of clear things. Like he can't really tell if it's air or glass. Also birds tend to try and fight themselves in the mirror so for the first couple of weeks, Court like startles seeing his reflection (1. because he's mutated and 2. his birdbrain thinks that there's someone encroaching on his territory)

I have an experience kinda like this and it's hilarious so I'm shoving it on court

Court just kind of slowly walking around his new nest home taking everything in, when he stumbles across a mirror. he let 's out some kind of a inhuman bird screech, stumbling backwards and runs, sliding on the socks he's wearing and smaks face first into a glass sliding door

Dave comes in running to see the bird man whos almost murdered him spread eagle on the floor and staring at the ceiling with a kind of resigned horror

Okay so I just had this thought for my swap Ironmary SierraSleep AU (CrowsNest??? Since you know, birb mutations Court and a nest is where a birb's home is and also bird's nest is used to refer to messy hair that usually comes from sleep)

Court stumbling out of the sub and immediately after seeing Dave, the man goes down unconscious. And now Dave is trying to drag this bloodsoaked, mutated man across the Hail Mary to Armando. Like imagine watching insomniac Markiplier (Markipussy if you will. I’m sorry, that also caused my psychic damage go on, yeet the tomatoes) drag an unconscious bloodsoaked birb Ryan Gosling by holding onto one of his legs and just like dragging him along the floor and just struggle.

CrowsNest AU fun fact

So after being plopped onto the Hail Mary/the Biodome, Court is extremely nonverbal at first. If he does talk, it’s usually either bird noises or like one word sentences. He’s very shy and defensive, so he doesn’t talk a lot, afraid that he’s going to slip up and ramble.

CrowsNest Fun Fact!

After Dave wakes up from the coma, he reverts back to exclusively Korean with a pinch of English tossed in. Thankfully Mary has been programmed to understand every language so she is able to understand his commands and stuff

When he meets Katie, he programs her translator in Korean and they talk in Korean, which is Katie's only reference point for some time until she figures out how to make a texturizer (with the help of Dave) to watch movies and watches movies in English. Still, she mostly knows Korean.

When Court ends up on the ship, Dave speaks to him in Korean and it further convinces Court that Dave is an angel bc he doesn't understand Korean. Then once Court wakes up, Dave has to kind of relearn English (he knows it and has been practicing but its one thing to practice it and its another to speak it with another person) as well as program the translator to English as well. The translator ends up a pidgin of mostly Korean with English and German (since Court can fluently speak German in the gray man books) added in. Court also learns Korean so they are able to communicate in two languages (eventually 3 bc Dave learns German as well)

They use English around the other Eridians, but Dave, Court, Katie, and Claire all understand English, Korean, German, and Eridian which allows for interesting gossip sessions
