तो इस वजह से बंद हो जाएगा मैकडोनाल्ड ! वजह चोंकाने वाली । मैकडॉनल्ड्स इंडिया ने कनॉट प्लाजा रेस्ट्रॉन्ट लिमिटेड (सीपीआरएल) द्वारा उत्तर और पूर्व भारत में चलाए जा रहे सभी 169 रेस्त्राओं के लिए व्यावसायिक करार खत्म कर दिया है। कंपनी ने सीपीआरएल पर अनुबंध की शर्तों के उल्लंघन और भुगतान में चूक का आरोप लगाते हुए यह कदम उठाया है और इससे वह अब मैकडॉनाल्ड के नाम, चिह्न और बौद्धिक सम्पदा का इस्तेमाल नहीं कर पाएगी। 'मैक्डी ' के प्रचलित नाम से जानी जाने वाली मैकडॉनल्ड्स अमेरिका की एक प्रमुख बर्गर रेस्त्रां कंपनी है और मैकडॉनाल्ड्स इंडिया इसकी भारतीय इकाई है। आपसी समझौता रद्द करने के इस नोटिस से सीपीआरएल अपने बिक्री केंद्रों पर मैक्डॉनल्डस के ब्रैंड का इस्तेमाल नहीं कर पाएगी। इन केंद्रों पर हजारों की संख्या में कर्मचारी हैं। उद्यमी विक्रम बख्शी की अगुवाई वाली सीपीआरएल का मैकडॉनाल्ड्स इंडिया से विवाद चल रहा था। यह विवाद कंपनी के प्रबंधन को लेकर था। सीपीआरएल में बक्शी और मैकडॉनाल्ड्स इंडिया आधे-आधे की भागीदार हैं। मैकडॉनल्ड्स ने हालांकि कहा है कि कर्मचारियों, आपूर्तिकर्ताओं और जमीन मालिकों आदि प्रभावितों की दिक्कतों को दूर करने को प्राथमिकता दी जाएगी। कंपनी इसके लिए सीपीआरएल के साथ काम करने तो तैयार है। फ्रैंचाइजी समझौता खत्म किए जाने के बाद अब सीपीआरएल को अमेरिकी कंपनी के नाम , व्यावसायिक प्रतीक चिह्न, डिजाइन और उससे जुड़ी बौद्धिक संपदा आदि के इस्तेमाल करने का अधिकार नहीं रहेगा। ये शर्तें करार खत्म किए जाने के नोटिस के 15 दिन के अंदर लागू हो जाएंगी। इस निर्णय से कुछ सप्ताह पहले ही सीपीआरएल ने दिल्ली के अपने 43 रेस्त्रां बंद कर दिए थे क्योंकि स्थानीय नगर निकाय ने मैकडॉनाल्ड्स के नाम से चल रही इन दुकानों का लाइसेंस का नवीनीकरण करने से मना कर दिया था। मैकडॉनाल्ड्स इंडिया ने आज एक बयान में कहा कि उसने 169 रेस्त्राओं के परिचालन के लिए मैकडॉनल्ड्स इंडिया प्राइवेट लिमिटेड और सीपीआरएल के बीच फ्रैंचाइजी समझौता खत्म करने का नोटिस सीपीआरएल के निदेशक मंडल को भेज दिया है। उक्त सभी 169 मैक्डॉनाल्ड रेस्त्राओं का परिचालन सीपीआरएल उत्तर व पूर्वी भारत में करती है। इस नोटिस के जवाब में विक्रम बख्शी ने कहा है कि यह निर्णय एनसीएलटी के फैसले को खुली चुनौती है, जिसने सीपीआरएल बोर्ड को बैठक कर विभिन्न मुद्दों पर विचार करने का निर्देश दिया था। बख्शी ने कहा, 'इस नोटिस का समय बहुत ही संदिग्ध है क्योंकि यह प्रशासक द्वारा बुलाई गई पहली बोर्ड बैठक की सुबह आया है। एनसीएलटी ने इस मामले में प्रशासक नियुक्त किया था।' बख्शी ने कहा कि सीआरपीएल सभी विधिसम्मत कदम उठाने पर विचार कर रही है। उल्लेखनीय है कि बख्शी को 2013 में संयुक्त उद्यम कंपनी के प्रबंध निदेशक पद से हटा दिया गया था। उसके बाद से ही सीआरपीएल के प्रबंधन के लेकर बख्शी व मैकडॉनल्ड्स की बीच कानून लड़ाई चल रही है। मैकडॉनाल्ड्स ने कहा है कि सीपीआरएल ने उसके साथ उसके नाम पर रेस्त्रां चलाने के लिए हुए अनुबंध का गंभीर उल्लंघन किया है। मैकडॉनाल्ड्स इंडिया ने यह भी कहा है कि वह उत्तर और पूर्वी भारत में उसके साथ लाइसेंस पर काम करने और आगे विकास करने के इच्छुक उपयुक्त भागीदार की तलाश करेगी और वह इस दिशा में कदम उठा रही है। निश्चित तौर पर इस कदम के बाद बर्गर खाने की चाहत रखने वालों को बड़ा झटका लगेगा । हम उम्मीद करते हूं कि जल्दी ही इस समस्या का समाधान निकले । ज्यादा खबरों के लिए लाइक और शेयर कीजिये ।

The deathly Badlands of South Dakota will forever remind me of this story. Instead of the usual tale of slavery, this author took a refreshing turn by telling the tale of Rachel Dupree. Rachel worked in the kitchen of a boarding house owned by a prominent and well-to-do African American woman.  This boarding house rented to men who worked in the slaughter houses in Chicago in 1917. It is there that Rachel meets and falls in love with Isaac, the only son of her employer and a soldier in the United States Army.  Isaac makes a pact with Rachel that he will marry her if she gives up her 160 acres of land that she is entitled to in the Homestead Act so he can double his share.  Rachel agrees and leaves her family and everything she has ever known behind and they stake their claim in South Dakota.

Fast forward thirteen years and almost eight pregnancies later (two of whom passed away).  Rachel is pregnant with her eight child and they are experiencing a deadly drought that has resulted in the loss of crops and livestock. And they are about to lower lower their child into a well to try and retrieve some water...

This is an intense award winning book and it made me appreciate how easy access to food and water is compared to the hard life our ancestors experienced.

As soon as MUSE A is chosen, she is dared to kiss her best friend, MUSE B who she has never had romantic feelings for. MUSE B  has never thought of his best friend as more than a very good friend, who is a girl. Most of the time people think boys and girls can’t stay friends, but they were living proof of that. They do the dare like everyone says. But MUSE A feels that spark that she has never felt with any other guy she’s dated. MUSE B also feels like the kiss was right, it was something they should’ve done a long time ago.
