I know everyone and their mom have probably thought about it already it but the way Jabber Wonger's personality and behavior contradict themselves is soo interesting. he is a masochist who clearly seeks pain and harm upon himself and yet he uses heavy substances with analgesic effect during his fights to numb the pain when necessary. he is someone whose whole motivation is about finding somebody who can defeat him in a fight - rough and violent and bloody - in which he gives it his all - yet the type of weapon he uses is literally aimed at incapacitating the enemy quickly and cleanly. the blades. with poison. the blades with poison from which one slightest cut will be enough to defeat his opponent. where the only way to resist this type of damage would be either a huge resistance to poisons in general - and you can't develop it for every fucking type of poison on the planet - or to not get cut a single time.
it makes me think how in the animal world, the ability to produce venom largely arose in those too small, slow, or weak to otherwise maintain an ecological niche. but we know Jabber is none of those. and yet that is how he chooses to live, and how he chooses to fight - violent and vicious - yes, but more than that - fast and accurate and clean.
