The “About Me” Post

My Introduction

This probably should have been my very first post, but I didn’t think about doing this until now. Whoops. Anyway, if you are reading this and have read any of my previous posts, you probably already know I’m a weirdo. But I like to think I’m more than just a weirdo. I’m insensitive, competitive, and a wee bit narcissistic. You’d think admitting you’re a narcissist makes you less of a narcissist, but that would be incorrect. Only the biggest narcissists would admit being a narcissist, then continue being narcissistic. But that’s not me. I like to think I’m confident, but then I quickly lose that confidence in the face of adversity. I’m quiet at parties and the place you will find me at my most sociable is the internet. I like and dislike many things, but before I get to that, let’s break up these paragraphs, as I am beginning to feel like this introduction is starting to run on.

My Looks

To avoid any confusion, at the time that I am writing this I am a 19 year old, Asian-American male. I have semi-long, annoyingly thick, black hair that I may just cut at some point, I have not yet decided (edit-my hair has been cut, fully shaved). My fashion sense is whack, as the kids would say. That’s not actually true, or maybe it is, I don’t understand children these days. All I know is that I have a lot of button-down shirts and only wear Adidas brand shoes.

My Dreams

For those of you that don’t judge books by their cover, my goals in life are something you may find a little more relevant. There are a lot of things I want to accomplish before I’m gone. I want to travel, mostly to Japan. There are places in Europe I’d also like to visit, but I really, REALLY want to go to Japan. I want to create things and share them with people that will understand them. I want to write a game, a book, a movie, a television series, an anime, a manga, an etcetera. But (probably) most importantly, I want to make good friends and meet the people that influenced me the most. The people that make me think and make me smile, the ones that provide me with endless entertainment and conversation. They are the role models I strive to be like and the hands I want to shake the most. I really like podcasts and the fine people that host them.

My Things That I Like

I mean, not every podcast that ever existed. I like certain gaming and anime podcasts, as well as a couple of podcasts that are really just about nothing (The GameOverGreggy Show and The Comedy Button). Those are probably my favorite. Because I enjoy listening to gaming and anime podcasts, you can infer that I also like gaming and anime. Steam is really awesome and I’ve met a lot of great people through it. That being said, I’m definitely a more console centric person, a PlayStation fan boy as it were. I really love some of the first parties Sony has to offer (like Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Media Molecule, Santa Monica, Studio Japan, and more). There are also some indie studios I really appreciate (like Ronimo, Supergiant Games, Roll 7, Yacht Club Games, and more). One game come back to a lot is Awesomenauts. It’s the only MOBA (Google it) I actually revel in, and like the name suggests, it’s awesome. One more thing I really like is anime. Not anime in general, but there are many that I find appealing and enjoyable. Crunchyroll (Google it) is awesome and I’m glad I subscribe to them. Video Games and anime are two of my biggest reasons for being so interested in Japan, but I’m also very intrigued in the culture. Anyway, these are some the things that I love, and I’m happy to use them to define myself as a person. Plus there’s other stuff. I want and try to be a well-rounded person.

My Things That I Dislike

Sports. Not playing, but watching. Watching Major League sports and keeping up with all that bullshit does not interest me at all. I also really don’t like the fandoms of it all. From a glance it seems fans like their teams and hate every other team that isn’t their team. It’s worsened when people get pointlessly belligerent about it. But it’s wrong to generalize and most sports fans probably aren’t like that. Different strokes, I guess. Mayonnaise, yogurt, soup, and the sound of people slurping soup: All things I despise (plus a lot more things I can’t think of at the moment). The thing I hate the most, though, is hate. Now hate isn’t necessarily wrong. We all hate things. But when you express that hatred without adding constructiveness or fair reason, I can only think of this action as useless. Don’t be useless. If you don’t like something and don’t know or care why, and if you have nothing constructive to say then just don’t say it.
