[ strings of discontent ]
@crxalex
devin relaxes against the bed that isn’t hers. she’s in the boys dormitory, easily making her way into male-dominated territory because of the lack of charms. she hasn’t seen alexander in some time, both of them too busy with too many things and with her slowly trying to find a way back to her normalcy. and now, she finds that she almost...wants to see him. the world has been tipped on its axis recently and alexander is a constant she’s had since childhood. so, naturally, she goes to his room to wait for him.
normally, she wouldn’t come here. their housemates are always present, always watching and, while devin is already annoyed enough by the things that are said about them both, it’s the random girls who approach her concerning alexander that finally tip the scale. from then, she refuses to hang out in his room as often.
but, as she takes a look around the room, she realizes that she feels almost...tender about the familiar surroundings. for the first time since those hazy days, her heart settles. finally, she can close her eyes without seeing blood smeared across her fingertips.
breaking her thoughts, the door to his room opens and devin sits up, silently watching alexander as his eyes land on her. she’s dressed casually, as casually as her style can get with her enveloping, layers of black. it’s after hours after all.
which makes her wonder.
“where were you?” she asks, her eyes squinting at him. “classes ended ages ago.”
