@crxhan - Continued from here
It was the last night of the trip and it was marked by the huge bonfire where students and fellow professors could relax after some time dealing with dragons and all sorts of magic the island had to offer. Because he was a professor most of his time was spent making sure no one got into terrible danger and also to give further guidance on unique magical plants, only to be found in New Zealand.
He loved it.
However that also meant he couldn’t check in with every single one of his students and that included Han, whom he now found sitting by the fire alone. He had a soft spot for the kid, having met him in almost another life before, when he was still travelling. Now many things had changed which lead them both to where they were.
He takes the hint and sits down next to the student, giving his bad leg some rest while he’s at it, and leans in once he speaks. More like mumbles, yet Jasper still understands, smile faltering slightly as a frown forms between his brows at the odd question.
“Running out of time?” he thinks briefly, not wanting the memories to overwhelm him but he lived with the feeling almost daily at some point. It was better now but there were certain nights when he couldn’t help but feel like he had a countdown until his past got him for good.
However this was no time for such conversation and he brings his smile back, reassuring.
“There are times when I feel that... Especially when I am supposed to grade tests.” He tries a light joke and snorts. Unprofessional but it was a casual setting at that point. “Do you feel like that? Like you are running out of time?”
