.a continuation from here

when thomas agreed to spend their break from school at teddy’s home, the boy had plans, he had actually pictured lots of things to do with the slytherin boy while they were both off school - yeah the thought made thomas blush in anticipation but he would never admit it out loud, but he smiled, and confidently entered home that night, sneaking, actually because he wasn’t that confident.

so  far when he got his bag ready and his snacks from his hidden stash, everything seemed perfect, too perfect for his own good. and that’s when it happened, that’s when he lost balance and left home running, without looking back, his back aching, his head still throbbing and his heart pounding. 

he thought about giving up and returning to hogwarts, the entire time he followed the instructions to teddy’s home and it was only when he saw the other male, standing right in front of him, he had the courage to actually stay, the worried look on the boy’s face making thomas blush again and sigh - he vowed he wouldn’t be a burden but he would end up being one. damn. “no...i...”, he looked away, biting his lower lip, regretting that immediately. “something happened...at home. c-can i...come in?”

“i’m sorry, i wasn’t listening.”

Violet’s cheeks redden and she shyly tucks her hair behind her ear. The library was for some reason fuller than she had expected that day and the only free spot she could find was next to her senior slytherin who she had seen around the corridors but Violet being Violet always felt intmidated to approach an older colleague. But she had no choice, she had to be in the library and that meant she had to ask if the seat next to his was free to take. Except she didn’t speak clearly.

“I am terribly sorry to bother your study but...I was uhm wondering if the seat is taken...?” She leans in and mumbles, a bit more eloquently now.

“you’re gonna leave me alone?”

halfway to the door, zeke freezes in his tracks. he thought he was doing such a good job of being sneaky, but the tower of books he walked into moments ago and sent crashing to the floor might as well be equivalent to a blaring alarm. glancing over his shoulder, he swallows guilty and shuffles from foot to foot. “see, about that.” um, what’s the best excuse here? an excuse that won’t hurt teddy’s feelings. 

fidgeting, he shoves his hands into his pockets. as the undisputed king™ of channeling innocence ( self-crowned, of course ), he’s pretty good at getting out of awkward situations. and looking like a wounded puppy. both could probably work right now. puppy dog eyes it is. “the thing is, i’m too proletariat for…” zeke trails off and gestures to the shop of antique antiquities they’re standing in. “all this.” 

just looking at the price tag for one of those dusty crystal balls on the shelf made him nauseous. how did people even have that much money? “i think i also came close to breaking five things here so i should really get out of the way before i end up hundreds of galleons in debt.” he shoots teddy a couple of finger guns while inching towards the door. “dude, have fun shopping though!”

“i didn’t think you’d care.”

"You, of all people, would know that I care-- a lot, don't you think?" he says, resting his chin on his palm as he watches Teddy aiding an injured student in the infirmary. Cai has always been the type of person who’d say ‘yes’ to chores, especially if it involves Teddy. So, he watches the other, remaining silent before finally opening his mouth to somehow, distract him. “I didn’t think you’d care, either-- honestly”

Temperatures distant from an appropriate low promised heavy clouds with something much louder than a gentle descent of snow. Its collusion with the ground was violent, far from the boring pitter-patter of the normal spring rain. As if the water itself possessed fury for the earth, each drop pounded exposed ground as well as everything else amongst it. Trees lose leaves in storms like these, but there shall be a few beings out there who yearned to witness it.

The hood of his robe huddled the Slytherin’s head unhelpfully, nonchalantly. He wasn’t exactly trying to keep dry; if so, he ought to have taken an umbrella. But there he is, scurrying inside the castle with his skin hugged by heavy, soaked fabric. A sigh draws slowly from faintly smiling lips as he catches his breath (air pressure was always lower during the rain) and lets his head freely and vigorously shake. Water droplets fling in all directions, hitting the walls, grounds, and the person nearby, who Clotarie, unfortunately, did not take into consideration.

thomas sighed, the cold air outside was supposed to calm him because he enjoyed that weather, but instead it made him shiver, restless. he could hear the commotion inside the castle, the excited crowd of students that were gathered for the ball’s opening ceremony and still he was outside, waiting.

he wondered if that was the right choice to be made, actually, he had been wondering that since he first voiced out his invitation to the slytherin boy that was now (not so) fashionably late. 

perhaps teddy finally realized that it would be stupid to be going to a ball, a valentine’s ball, with a boy. a gryffindor boy, of all houses and now he decided that it’d be fun to make thomas wait outside, on the same spot he asked teddy to go to the ball with him.

it made him sigh deeply again and this time thomas rubbed his hands together, hating himself for not buying gloves to match his vests. it all made him even more restless, the wait, the doubts and the music inside, the idea of being rejected was something that didn’t match with his gryffindor pride and it made him nervous and anxious, to the point he started to mumble potions ingredients out of the blue, to see if something (else) would happen.

maybe teddy just realized he should be going with a nice slytherin girl, but wait, are there any nice slytherin girls out there? sod off, thomas, focus. felix felicis - ashwinder egg, squill bulb...

“did you see that?” 

“teddy, we’ve talked about this, i’m literally four inches shorter than you…and i’m legally blind.” she exaggerated as she stood on her tiptoes to try and see over him but with no prevail. why was nearly everyone taller than her? she grabbed his sleeve and moved his arm to look under him instead of walking around him, which was completely unnecessary in anyone else book but she one of those people who did things the hard way. 

she looked out the window they were near, but saw nothing of interest.

it made her curious when he asked, the tone of voice he used suggested there was something there. but she didn’t like the way he jumped slightly away from the window when he asked. it gave her the vibe that it was something bad.

“i literally see nothing.” haeli said, looking one last time before putting his arm down and looking at him, an eyebrow raised in suspicion. she felt like he was pulling a joke on her, like there wasn’t actually something there in the first place, “is it a fucking spider?!” she suddenly exclaimed moving to hide behind him. although, thinking about it…wasn’t he scared of them too? if it was a spider, they’d most likely be fighting to hide behind each other.
