15. Things you said with too many miles between us

“Purple or red?” Crystal asked, holding up two wigs in the frame so Gigi could get a good look at both of them.

Gigi stared at the screen pensively, strumming her fingers against her chin. “The red suits the outfit better,” she decided, pointing to the look Crystal had laid out. She loved that Crystal came to her for pre-interview advice. It made her feel wanted, needed. Maybe it was self-centered, but she liked knowing that she was on Crystal’s mind even when they hadn’t spoken yet that day.

Not that they ever went more than a couple days without speaking, and hardly a day without texting. Every time they heard about long-distance relationships, everything always came back to ‘putting in effort’. But it never felt like effort to them, it was just who they were - two queens who couldn’t fathom going even a week without some form of verbal contact.

“Red it is,” Crystal confirmed without hesitation. Then she sat back down on the bed and sighed. “I miss you,” she whined softly, in a way that made Gigi want to catch the next flight to Springfield.

But instead, Gigi was stuck in her bed, full of yearning. “I miss you too. The fact that I don’t know when I can see you next is actually killing me. Like, I am in physical pain. I’m going to die, Crystal.”

“Well, try to stay alive a little bit longer. Say… another three weeks. No reason for that leng specifically… It’s just a good length,” Crystal said, trying to work around the fact that she couldn’t keep a secret to save her life.

Gigi furrowed her brows, because three weeks already seemed significant, and it took her a moment to remember the current date - November eleventh, and chuckled softly when she put it together. “What, just stick it out until my birthday?”

Crystal nodded brightly, unsure if Gigi was just playing dumb or if she’d actually managed not to spoil the surprise entirely. “Birthdays are very important, Gigi,” she insisted.

“Didn’t you almost forget your own birthday this year?” she pointed out.

“Irrelevant!”

Gigi snorted. “Okay baby, I promise I won’t let myself die of loneliness just for you,” she cooed in a cloyingly sweet, almost baby voice that made Crystal laugh.

Crystal beamed in satisfaction. “Good. I’m gonna go get ready, I’ll talk to you later, love you.”

“I love you too,” she said before they hung up. Times like this were bittersweet - she was all the more confident in their relationship, but it just made her long for her more. “Just three more weeks, I guess.”

barracuda!!! tossing my hat into the enemies to lovers ring with some angsty high school au x swimmer au jankie (with background crygi + ?halldoll) !! it’s (loosely) inspired by the book/tv show of the same name, but I’m making it ✨gay✨

Jackie starts attending a prestigious private school on a sporting scholarship — and finds herself under peppy but cutthroat swim team captain Jan, in more ways than one. Jan’s a really competitive, take no shit kinda leader; she knows what she wants and has worked hard for it, her spot as top dog has never been challenged — until Jackie made the team. Cue sexy conflict.

I’m excited to write Jan in a way that I’ve only really ever written Jackie; very in control, competitive, intense. Aquatic success is all Jan has ever wanted, she doesn’t have a backup plan. Whereas Jackie is a lot more laidback — swimming isn’t her forever plan, it’s just a pathway into college. Cue more conflict between Jackie wanting to do just enough to get her where she needs to go, Jan wanting and needing to win, and Jackie actually winning.

Background crygi angst — Gigi’s spot on the team is secure, and Crystal has been dropped from the team due to injury. Crystal often finds herself sitting on the sidelines and watching her friends and her girlfriend do what she used to love without her, even though Gigi tells her it isn’t good for her. But what would Gigi know, she hasn’t just had shoulder surgery. As the outsiders of the group, Jackie and Crystal give each other a lot of support — Crystal gives Jackie tips and tricks on how to make becoming part of the team easier, and Crystal gains a friend who sees swimming as a hobby, not a lifestyle; which is an ideology she must now adopt herself.

It’s self indulgent angst and fluff (and probably smut 👀) — and I’m honestly so excited to write a trope I haven’t worked with before !!

2. what would you name your future kids? Okay, I really don’t want kids, but I like these names:  Samantha Eva (I actually like Evangeline, but naming someone that in mexico would be ridiculous) Nichole Damian 9. who did you last see in person? My friend that lives really close to me. We talked all night, woke up at 2pm, watched crossroads, and sleep again. Best weekend I’ve had in a while. 15. personality description Oh, I’m not sure. hahaha I guess I’m optimistic for the sake of my sanity, shy, non-confrontational, and sometimes funny? 22. description of crush. hehe, non-existent. I rarely have crushes, tbh.

48. turn offs Rudeness, specially when people think being rude it’s funny or a personality trait. I guess it’s a variation of rudeness, but when someone doesn’t let me talk.  58. description of my best friend I actually have three. (and two of them can’t be in the same room, so, trying to have gatherings is fun). The first one is the first friend at college, she is extremely anxious, but the most loyal person I know. She is always asking weird questions like: If I shaved one side of my head, what would you say to me? and it’s my favorite thing about her. The second one we technically went to college together, but I kind of hated her at college. We started talking when we realized that we lived really close and enjoyed drag race, and now she is my go to almost everything. I love that I can talk about anything with her without judgement. She’s always working extra hard, and has the worst sleep pattern ever. She is also extremely funny and honest. The third one I met at work, and I am not even sure how we ended up becoming friends.  She’s the stereotype of a scorpio personified. I know she will tell me when I’m wrong, and I also know she will have my back, no matter what.

🤨Who gets jealous more often?

Since Crystal very rarely dates women, she's very wary when it comes to Gigi and other people when they go out. It's not that she doesn't trust her, it's more like she doesn't trust the people around Gigi (she's pinned for months on end, she knows when people look at her in a weird way). Of course, she does the healthy thing and talks it out, but the jealousy never really fades completely

😴Who falls asleep on the other more?

Geeg! She works at the restaurant and her seamstress gig, she rarely gets a break during the week, so once it's the weekend and she wants to do couple things with Crystal (watch a movie, go out) she falls asleep, leaning against her shoulder, or is barely staying awake. Crystal doesn't mind, she finds it cute.

😊Who calls the other names lovingly (e.g. nerd)?

Crystal! She calls Gigi lots of terms of endearment in Spanish, and Gigi never really understands them, but she likes them either way. Sometimes she'll call her Cryssy or honey, but Crystal is definitely the one that has a plethora of petnames for Gigi.

it changes all the time, but for me to be asleep before midnight is quite rare, no matter when I have to be up

I prefer a rolling suitcase but if we’re walking heaps I’ll take a duffel bag

they’re okay, work takes a beating on them so I try and take good care of them but anxiety can make that a bit of a challenge because I tend to pick or bite if I’m stressed or nervous (pandemic silver lining - not biting nearly as much). some of my nails are broken but I’m trying to grow them out a little bit atm!!

my music taste is so mish mash and usually quite soft for my club? let’s get down with some lady power. girls in the hood (megan thee stallion), tempo (lizzo ft missy elliott), wasabi (little mix), poison (bardot), forever (the veronicas)

thankfully no !

I tried to get into breadmaking from scratch but my oven is not it .. at all.

spent it at my nana and granddad’s house with some of my family - thankful we were allowed to have visitors and visit others

the Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk! read it from a nursing perspective while I was on my mental health trauma and found it very confronting but useful, currently reading it again from a personal perspective

tea: black with two sugars

coffee: iced with oat milk, or an oat milk latte with one sugar

usually around 8:30ish if I have nowhere to be 👀 but let it be known i could happily sleep all day omg

14. what is your defining personality trait?

if you look up Belbin’s completer finisher, that’s me to a t! I’m conscientious and good with the small details, but I sometimes struggle to look at the big picture lmaooo 👀

17. what would your superpower be? how would you use it?

if I could I would freeze time! my time management skills aren’t all that great and deadset thinking about how much I could achieve if the clocks stopped turning is just peak fantasy for me 🥵🤤

22. what spices do you always use when cooking?

ugh the way I love chilli flakes, paprika, fresh ground peppercorns, chinese five spice, garlic, ginger, cloves omg CUMIN 🤤 don’t even get me started on herbs (I have my own herb garden ✨) I pay the price for it (ibd gang where you at) but fuck it’s worth it
