the reason childe is so insistent on protecting the innocence of teucer & arguably other young children that he cares about is related to having his own childhood stolen from him.
it’s been several years since childe fell into the abyss & he’s kinda accepted that he can never go back to the person he was before he was trained to be a weapon. & even if he outwardly enjoys the person he is & the power he has to some degree (whether this is another coping mechanism is to be determined). he’s not ignorant to how bad of a person he is & how brutal the life he lives is.
& he’d do everything in his power to make sure his loved ones never experience that. hence why childe tends to go overboard when trying to maintain teucer’s innocence & naivety. i think he knows at some point teucer must know the truth but while his brother is still very young, childe wants to protect as much of that innocence as he can. he wants teucer to have a childhood, the one childe didn’t get to have.
