happy bakuten birthday!!
i love this funky little gymnastics anime with my whole heart so in true eden tradition, here's watari interacting with mothman misato:
no matter how much onagawa brags about being the one to figure out misato was mothman, watari was the one who figured it out first
he just didn't say anything
the poor kid was so nervous hiding it as it was and watari could understand that on a certain level
i mean, watari had plenty of secrets of his own he'd rather keep to himself
and once the secret was out he didn't feel the need to argue about bragging rights, onagawa could have that
it was kind of fun having a moth for a friend
he wasn't as intimidating or action packed as the yakuza movies that watari likes but there was something cool about being friends with mothman
the actual mothman
it was certainly something he could hold over his brothers' heads in the future (yes i hc that watari has a bunch of brothers tell me im wrong)
after misato gets over the shock of his teammates- no his friends- knowing his secret, he doesn't think too hard about their reactions
he swears though, that watari is making fun of him
there's other explanation for the things he's seen
unless...
but no
it can't be
one time he walked into the living room and saw glowing eyes coming from the darkest part of the room. when he turned on the light in a panic, watari was asleep. he didn't even have his eyes open. he complained about misato waking him up and then graciously turned off the light again so that misato wouldn't be stuck in front of it all night
another time, misato could've sworn he saw watari hovering cross-legged in the air from the kitchen window but when he did a double take, watari's feet were planted firmly on the ground
he keeps hearing a weird humming sound coming from watari's room sometimes but when he asked onagawa what it was onagawa said he's never heard anything like that
it keeps happening
it makes his moth senses tingle
one time he confronts watari about it but the other boy just laughs and says that misato must be hallucinating and it must be the moth part of him

ive been waiting to do this one for a while and just keep putting it off but there is no better day to post it than on the 1 year anniversary of bakuten
