i wanted to get home before i answered this bc i had very bad service before but now i am back and so it's time :)

misato is so so confused about it
because like
there is no way he's able to prove that any of the things he's been seeing are real
if they are watari covers his tracks well other than the fact that every time something weird happens no one else but he and misato are there
one time he asked futaba about it because he'd gotten so worried and futaba said he had no idea what he meant
there had to be some sort of proof
mostly misato just wants something because he gets the distinct feeling that he's being messed with by watari
one time watari's brothers drop by for an afternoon and when misato first opens the door to the three of them he swears he sees three identical copies of watari but he blinks and it's just three guys who look vaguely related to him
watari seems to be particularly in a good mood that day
onagawa chalks it up to the visit from his brothers. misato secretly blames it on the tail he could have sworn one of them had when he went to get water while the brothers were making lunch
he never took watari as a secretive person or even someone who enjoyed messing with people that much. that was more onagawa's thing.
but it was undeniable that his senpai was getting immense joy out of screwing with his kouhai
sometimes when misato is staring at a light because onagawa left one on again he thinks he sees things from the corner of his eye. it only ever happens when futaba has left his side to go to the bathroom or something and then he'll see a flash of green hair in his peripheral and something glowing
he can't look away from the lamp though bc

so he's never been able to see more than that
it always disappears by the time futaba gets back. even when futaba offers to turn off the light so that they can get some sleep (most nights misato declines bc talking to futaba like this is one of his favorite things), there's no more glowing when he glances around the dark
one time watari offered him a technique to clean his wings
and it worked
misato has never been more confused in his entire life
when he finally gets fed up enough he goes to the only person who would be observant enough to see things without watari noticing

he brings it up subtly at first but she gets straight to the point once she's picked up what he's trying to talk about
"do you know what he is?"
"i... have no idea"
from then on they spend time together compiling information they've both picked up on
there's not much to go on
it seems like watari can do whatever the hell he wants. misato only has moth powers. watari doesn't seem to have limits.
they are completely stumped
misato takes one for the team and one night when futaba has gone to the bathroom, watari is making his way down the hall for a midnight snack or something.
misato asks him directly about the things he's been seeing
watari only offers him a bright smile and says
"i have no idea what you're talking about"
misato could swear watari's fangs grew just a little bit as he said it
