7. What's one way your OC has changed since you first came up with them?
really apt you would ask this for heli and severine because severine is actually born from a much earlier rough sketch of heli!!
my original idea for heli and rodwell was much sweeter and more romantic than their actual fully developed characters became. they were my little fetishbait pair... a much older man and a much younger woman with a size difference as big as their age gap. they were very two dimensional and i was enamored with little one off scenarios of rod being a creeky old man and helicent doting on him. i think it's obvious how this concept turned into severine and arlan! i missed that cutesy age gap wound care. arlan and sev have also evolved into more three dimensional fully realized characters but they are firmly rooted in those particular tropes whereas all of those things sort of fell away from rod and heli as they developed.
10. What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?
🫀🗡 - i would love to explore a helicent/helman au but it would have to be developed mostly from helman's perspective because i don't think heli would have very many thoughts about the situation. she'd like barely register him. meanwhile helman would be on cloud 9 his stupid little crush on his dead eyed big sister is somehow realized and consumated and he's slightly less afraid she'll bite his head clean off during sex every time it doesn't happen. yippee!!!
🐺🗡 - i haven't quite decided all the details of this story and i think it'll kind of depend on how those solidify (can't really do anything until i name cryptwife and that'll come to me when it comes to me 😭 i really hope bertha isn't the name that sticks bc i don't like it) but i would be interested in exploring an au where jeyne and cryptwife knew one another before cryptwife and harlan's marriage. the au would also have to be that they are of an age rather than jeyne being much younger than cryptwife. i think it would add a whole 'nother layer of horror when jeyne starts hearing the scratching in her walls if she could swear that she recognizes the soft mumbling voice that accompanies it. having heli foster at the vale i think would make them tooooo close because it would also be harlan really shitting where he eats to take the arryn girl to wife while her foster sister is decaying in his walls.
🦋🛡 - hmmm sev and arlan are already sort of a rod and heli au. maybe an au where arlan is the father of one or more of sev's kids would be interesting! it would complicate his decision to leave westeros, especially since he knows that sev would leave them behind in a heartbeat but does not want to admit that to himself. but arlan is white and severine and unnamed lord sunglass are both people of color tho so this au ends with arlan executed or sent to the wall pretty quickly and sev a disgrace to her house. she doesn't have the nyra defense of being king daddy's bestgirl.
20. Does your OC have a tendency to get jealous? If so, how does this manifest?
arlan gets scathingly jealous!! when severine was a little girl he would get jealous of any other adult that would interact with her outside her immediate family. he liked how much she liked him and how obvious her little childhood crush was and he hated seeing her giving anyone else her attention. when she and unnamed lord horpe are touring the crownlands for a suitor for her arlan is raging out every day over the prospect of some nothing no-inheritance seventh son lordling being sev's lord husband and father of her children because that should be HIM!!! after she marries lord sunglass he keeps himself on a short leash for the first few years but once sev has two children by him he stops doing anything to hide their affair and is outwardly cold and dismissive to her husband. his rage is somewhat cooled when severine calls him her lord husband when they are alone together in private, but in some ways that makes it even harder. sev thinks this is a crazy turn on. feature not a bug!
heli gets irritable when she is not rodwell's first priority but this is not jealousy so much as it is being his spoiled rotten daddy's girl daughter. she is secure in her knowledge that she and lucamore are more to one another than anyone has ever or will ever be to either of them and so she does not care about his many affairs, short or long lived. they all end the same way, after all, and none of them compare to her. plus plenty of them end up on her vivisection table!
lucamore is jealous of rodwell and possessive over helicent. they're closer in age than he is to heli and he hates that. he also hates how affectionate heli is with him because he had thought he was the only one on earth would could elicit warmth in her. he also thinks rodwell is a disgusting creep who groomed and abused helicent which is only bad of course because rodwell was the one to do it instead of him. lucamore and rodwell both very confidently and exasperatedly say about the other "i don't know what he's THINKING sniffing around that girl. she's half his age and far above his station!!" they do end up working together as heli's little lab assistants and rodwell does a lot to bring blyght hall back up to shape with heli by his side to help but they deeply dislike one another and each hates the other's unique closeness with helicent.
