Transformers Shattered Glass Idea
Just a heads up, Shattered Glass universe using Crysis as inspiration (especially in its later story).
The Autobots and Decepticons would start out the same as any other modern depiction. However, Megatron never lost sight of his righteous ambition for equality. The Autobots, however, never became the righteous heroes that they are in most universes...or rather, they did...but lost their way due to pent-up frustration over the war going on for so long.
Optronix/Optimus is against becoming something he's not (Optimus is similar to his classical depictions at this point), but the Autobots aren't having it. They essentially commit mutiny and brainwash Optimus into a version of Nemesis Prime. Through this, the Autobots are more ruthless and violent, thus making both factions become their Shattered Glass depictions.
They inadvertently head to Earth and, as a result of their crash-landing, Optimus slowly begins to return to his heroic self. Optimus takes on the Rolling Thunder vehicle as his alt mode (colors ultimately become similar to Master Chief). The Decepticons, primarily Megatron, Soundwave, and Starscream, and their human allies (through stories Megatron would tell) help the Autobot leader remember who he once was. Optimus is eventually betrayed and left for dead....
Also, some of the Autobots would defect to become the Maximals, returning to their heroic roots after realizing the error of their ways.
And thanks to this, Optimus remembers everything...and is crushed by what he's done, even if it was against his will. He ultimately wanders, rejects his own name and unsure of what he should do now. He occasionally helps the Decepticons, but that's it as he don't have a reason to get involved. Soon, humans become a threat to themselves...and Optimus is their one hope.
During this, Optimus discovers he's dying at a rapid rate from a virus implanted in him should he ever go rogue. His spark and the Matrix are transplanted into a drone in his image (based on the Eldedroid/MP-01B with a vehicle based on Crysis’s HMLTV-998 Bulldog). Because of this, he temporarily loses his memories and has a case of dissociative identity disorder, but eventually recovers from them both.
At some point, the amnesiac Optimus encounters a human resistance trying to take back their city from rampant Transformers. Optimus saves them, before they return the favor. They salvage whatever technology they can find to make Optimus a Brainmaster body (based on Solid Snake and Big Boss), thus effectively making his a Pretender. The humans ask of him for help in freeing Earth, but make it clear that it’s entirely his choice and they know that he might choose to leave.
Optimus begrudgingly agrees to help, but only on his terms. The conflict brings him to several countries around the planet, helping him meet random citizens and learning wisdom from them. He then discovers why everything's going to shit (which is the Autobots convincing corrupt and malicious individuals into becoming transformers) and it slowly convinces him to take this war into his own hands.
He also discovers that various Autobots have become Maximals, as they have realized what they were becoming and were horrified by it. In a way, becoming Maximals has given them a second chance to make things right, much to the amnesiac Optimus’s unexplainable joy.
Through the help of new and old allies, combined efforts of wisdom and science, and a lot of hope and luck, Optimus succeeds. And from this and regaining his memories, he takes up the name Optimus Prime once again, forever changed by this event and determined to end the war.
Over the years, he helps as much as he can, forcing the Autobots to the moon and temporarily trapping them there. However, the threat of a god approaches and Optimus struggles with visions of a doomed future. The Decepticons begin to help humanity, believing the war to be over. Optimus is the only one who knows that the war might be over for now...but a worse threat is coming.
Once said threat appears, both Autobots and Decepticons form a uneasy alliance. Optimus and Megatron finally have their fated conflict, as their beliefs begin to clash (Optimus believing there's still hope to save Earth, while Megatron believes all on Earth need to evacuate), with Optimus barely winning through sheer will. The visions sadly come true...but Optimus, having prepared for this, manages to snag the final victory.
He then retires and takes up the name Optronix again, commenting that he's made mistakes, but he's still a growing person after all.
