My malachite collection (◡ ω ◡)✨
Hello again!! I was just wondering if you have any crystals you think are easier to take care of, any favourites in your own collection, and if you have any tips for someone who has started a collection with no idea how to charge them? (It’s me I’m the someone (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞)
Oh yes good good! As far as care is concerned, most crystals are pretty easy to care for. Just keep brightly colored ones out of direct sunlight, and be mindful about solubility. (Personally I don’t put any of mine in water or liquid anyways.)
I have a personal fondness for rose quartz and amethyst, they’re so pretty and I just really dig whatever vibes it is they’re giving me. A lot of my crystals were from rock collecting as a kid and going to the lake and the windmill with my family, so I feel pretty sentimental and would have a hard time selecting one or two single favourites, but I will say that as far as working with them, I have used my rose quartz and amethyst the most consistently in spell work or simple charms.
Charging however, really depends more on your personal path. How do you normally charge? Some people draw a circle and invoke specific energies, some people rest their objects in moonlight, some people use flames or visualisation, or even spirits. When it comes to my own practice and my own crystals, if I have a specific task I would like to use one for, then first I allow it to charge on my alter, and after I sort of “speak” to it to explain what task I want it to complete and provide it with energy from either myself or a source. A lot of it is intuition based. I use preconceived correspondences as a “jumping point” to spur my own intuition if I’m unsure about working with a new stone or ingredient, and expand on it from there.
I have a rather animist take on working with my ingredients, so I tend to believe more in “getting to know” your collection individually so that you can better understand how to work with the stones (or plants or tools that you might be using). I have been known to carry a new ingredient around with me for a while before even working with it.
Good luck with your new collection! Crystals are pretty neat even if you’re not using them for witchcraft purposes and just like them because they’re cool. I would say that most of the ones I have collected over the years I have just because I like them and don’t really use them for metaphysical purposes.
