Oh yeah don’t think I mention this, but Crystaloids have albinism while Red Devils have erythrism. I don’t mean literally though but their colors are considered to come from their own forms of it if that makes sense? Corrupted monsters are considered to be melanistic as well, their tendrils aren’t the colors they’d normally be but gain significantly darker coloration

Uncommon monster variants

All the monsters here are separated from their normal counterparts by certain defining features.

In order we have Red Devils, Crystaloids, Handsies, Chewers and Ocularoids

Red Devils are named after the unnatural red tone that makes of their flesh but outside of that they are practically the same as their normal counterparts

Crystaloids always have pale flesh and crystal-like structures protruding through their body and are either born with too many limbs or not enough of them. They are known to have weak regeneration when compared to others

Handsies are monsters with excessive limbs that tend to either wrap around the creatures body or be spliced to them. With so much excessive hands attached to them they tend to be on the bigger and clumsier side of monster

Chewers tend to lack the hanging flesh that the other variants have, but with injuries they do still sport the black flesh beneath. They tend to always be a bit wet from drooling from their many mouths. Their flesh is a lot more squishy than their other counterparts

Ocularoids are those that sport excessive eye growths along their body, theses monsters are fairly easy to hurt if you target their eyes. However sneaking up or even getting close to theses creatures is almost impossible

Crystaloids are monsters with unnaturally pale flesh, almost like a form of albinism but with the added adornment of multiple crystal-like structures growing out of their flesh. Theses structures seem to grow at random. No observed crystaloids of the same species have the same crystal arrangement, so random growth is the most likely possibility. - Jim

Some Crystaloids live in a constant state of pain as their crystal structures stab and pierce their bodies each time they move or bend in certain ways, some can’t even avoid the constant stabbing and are unfortunate that even the simple act of walking can lead to extreme pain.

Crystaloids also have to deal with being weighted down by their crystals, often having their mobility heavily limited from the crystals weight or how they grow off their bodies. If they are unable to break off the crystals, some will grow into and through other parts of their body like how a warthogs tusks can pierce their own skull if not broken off.

Not only do they suffer injuries from themselves, but they are often hurt and hunted by others. With their limited mobility, and their tendency to be missing limbs or having too many limbs for their own good, most tend to be extremely vulnerable if luck wasn’t in their favor during their fetal pod stage. They also suffer from lack of regenerative properties, often permanently losing limbs or sustaining life threatening injuries when attacked. Their pale flesh makes them stand out heavily amongst the infection zones, so hiding is almost never an available option for them. It is not uncommon for their kind to be killed for their crystals or even captured and kept alive to be a makeshift crystal source amongst certain groups of nomads or bandits.
