he looked and SOUNDED like her brother, but he wasn't the same boy she remembered. the one who made her laugh at his stupid jokes, the one who promised that he would never leave. no, that boy was gone and in his place was something different. she watched his subtle movements unsure of how to proceed. 

taking a deep breath, she took a slow step forward, then another and before she knew it she was standing right in front of him. with a SHAKY hand, she reached out and gently hooked her index finger beneath his chin. she wasn’t afraid of him but she wanted him to trust her which meant no sudden movements. a small smile formed on her lips as she looked him in the eye. 

          “ i’m here because my BIG BROTHER needs me. you don’t have to go through this alone. ”

THOSE two things didn’t go hand in hand as much as people would have liked them to. he didn’t need steve to be his friend to care. he didn’t need him to care. if anything – he probably shouldn’t. it was safer that way. for both of them, but mainly for STEVE. “you shouldn’t.”

     “I shouldn’t do a lot of things, but you know --” 

I’m stubborn as hell, he thought to himself with a wry smile, his gaze fixed on the other  before moving SLOWLY over to the other.  He tried  to  cause  less  anxiety,  moving to  sink down in front of him. 

     “You’re not gonna change how I feel,                bud. So just TALK to me.”

      it was a dumb idea but rebecca was all for those. the internet was great in trying to track down people or stories and the winter soldier was a big one. there was a rumor he was spotted in romania but everyone was writing it off. everyone but the brunette who immediately bought a ticket to the country. the very next day she was wandering the streets of bucharest looking for him. it was hard with all the hustle and bustle of people, plus her stomach growling heavily.

     she headed towards some fruit stands and began to look over their selection. it all looked good but she wanted to get the quickest snack before going back on her search for bucky. as she reached over to grab some apples, her shoulder bumped a man. becca didn’t even bother looking up.

                             “  oh, sorry. just having trouble reaching them.  ”
