Only very few of the creatures that had been freed from their cages in the ring, back when they’d rescued Nell and Remmy, had been spotted by Jared. Even fewer had made an appearance at the farm, and given the hasty connections he’d made at the time he didn’t blame them for not seeking him out. A baseline connection could only go so far after all. He liked to build trust, the trust that would last without adrenaline, and without a controlling hand. He preferred not to extend a controlling hand if he could help it. But back then he’d had to in order to get anything done in the chaos. 

The only creature that he could feel the beginnings of a trust from and had not yet been sighted was the Kerashag. And given the nymph could still feel it in the area, he had decided to just go and gently check up on it. To make sure it hadn’t sustained injuries after they had rushed to the hospital for Blanche. 

The nymph approached where he felt the connection the strongest, however, Jared was forced to duck down. There was a woman following the trail towards the creature as well. But why? Jared paused only a moment before deciding to take a chance. He stood tall, calling out to her pretending to be just an avid hiker.

“Hey, Didn’t expect to see anyone else on the trail.”

{pm} I'm gonna go look for a disappearing lighthouse this weekend. Wanna come? Could be dangerous. We could get stuck in a time rift. Or a black hole. Or fall to our deaths if it disappears while we're inside. Well, you might. Not me. Since I'm immortal and shit. Or we might disappear too. You in?

{pm} Well shit. I rescind my statement then. And I didn’t lose my head, but I did end up- somewhere else. After I was drowned. Which sucks, if you’ve never done it. But it took hours for me to come back. Hours, Norma.

So many that the damn medical examiner put me in the morgue freezer. She probably would’ve autopsied me if Arthur hadn’t been there. And I make it a point to leave bodies buried too. But since the aforementioned ME blocked me, I doubt she’s going to follow through with exhuming a couple of bodies for me. Or at all. I need to look at them.

[pm] Well I know you didn’t lose your head because you would be actually dead in that case. And I am many centuries old with a fondness for witch trials; of course I’ve drowned. It feels like your lungs are sloshing for at least a few days. I would have told you to avoid it. Not that you would have likely listened. How underfed were you for it to take that long? I’m the one here who can’t use their powers, you should be just fine.

Oh calm down, I ended up on an autopsy table in the nineteenth century once. I woke up when he pulled the knife out of my heart. I wasn’t able to properly heal while it was still lodged in there. Ironically, I gave the coroner a coronary attack when I stood up from the table. As long as she didn’t cut off your head you would have been fine, I’m sure. Either way, I’m unaware of why you’d concern yourself so fiercely with human deaths to exhume their bodies. It seems of little importance.

My brothers once dropped me down an abandoned well we found at an old farmstead. That was fun.

I assume they lowered you down with a rope or something? That does sound fun. Being thrown down and breaking a leg would be less fun, but would make for a great story.
