Funny enough, the art style of XVI actually reminds me of XII's. The line works a bit lighter (kind of like Disney's actually), but other than that it has the same vibe as the group drawings in XII.

To be fair, Akihiko Yoshida and Kazuya Takahashi seem to have a very similar art style, so that may be the reason why it has some ffxii vibe.

I’m gonna need a little time to study both their styles, i’ll begin now ❤️

Beneath the Darkness in My Bones by @cryysis​

Fandom: Inuyasha Rating: Mature Status: In Progress Pairing: Kouga/Kagomee Summary: Horror is all she knows. Darkness is in his blood. She is the other half of his soul, and his calls for her echo long into the night.

A little bit about the story: Kagome is trapped in a palace with a psychopathic father that lords over her every move and watched by his personal guard (who is probably just as sadistic). But she’s drawn to a sound, an eerie, piercing song that comes from the forest, almost like it’s beckoning her. She dreams of getting away from the fear she lives in and promises herself that she will one day follow the sound.

Kouga is making the sound, waiting for his other half to listen to his song, step into his domain, and finally give him permission to protect her with his wrath.

Why I love it: Did you read that?? How can you not love it?!  I am immersed. There’s two chapters written and I am so entwined in this story and world, I can’t see straight. I’m a sucker for fantasy stories, even more the ones dripping in horror and darkness in every corner, but have the hope for better just waiting at the border. This fic has that in spades. Again, two chapters, and I’m thrumming with anticipation of just how much worse this will get before it gets better. And when it gets better, how much violence is Kouga going to rain onto those who hurt her?

I’m fucking living for this fic right now and I hope you guys can love it as much as I do.

Runner up (because I gave one to a different question and I try to be fair) is this scene in an ode in six parts when the Capital Magicians are introduced:

Even when approaching as the first rays of dusk settled over the land, Kagome wished she could have missed this. The strange eyes were everywhere, abrasive magick roughly shoved at her hands, her feet, her skin, trying and trying to dig out something for it to play with.

Oh, she hated this. Hated how the Capital used magick and those that could carry it. Invasive and demanding and everything against the very nature of how the magick worked. Capital Magicians, as they called themselves, worked hard, rose fast to fame, and burned out even faster. Kaede had warned against the appeal of their plight long ago, teaching that if one didn’t learn to feed and nourish, one could only drain dry.

And once a spring was drained, they are never taught how to replenish what they took.

This was the second to last scene I wrote, but it set the tone for magick and how I could adjust things when I edited the story. I know that if this fic were ever expanded, this section would carry a lot of it.

8. Which fic this year was most fun to write?

Oh! That’s a neat one to think about! Enjoy the Show takes the cake for that one. While I had a lot of fun writing a lot of pieces in other fics, the fun-to-fic ratio is highest in this one.

It’s just smut. It’s ridiculous. It’s explicit. It’s completely self-indulgent. And because of that I didn’t have a plot hole to spiral down in. I could dig into highly specific fantasies that I thought would be neat to explore that I haven’t really found a lot of in this fandom and I really had a lot of fun with it.

Like, I didn’t have to care? I threw out realism and I had a blast writing it -- which really fucking works for me. I didn’t give a single damn about anything other than “Is this hot?” and honestly, after writing for Plot and Realism and Canon Accuracy and Highly Specific AU That Only Exists Because I Saw A Dress, I could just let go and write.

I’m glad you asked me this one. I forgot how fun this was. It gets little feedback/interaction in comparison to views (no surprise, that always happens with smut), so I tend to forget this one exists. But man, it was a ton of fun to write.

Lol i know right, it bothers me too actually, but i usually post arts/drawings under my chapters too and those wouldn’t show up if i put the “read more” thing. So, it’s a bit a struggle: keep it long with art or make it short with no art?

But you’re right, i’ll do as you say next time ;)
