Hi! Can you recommend any good CS oneshots, preferably AU? Thanks! ☺

Oh wow! Thank you for asking me my opinion!

I don’t tend to read a ton of AU’s to be honest, but of the few that I’ve read, here’s what I would recommend:

-“Apparitions” by @justanotherwannabeclassic. This is probably my favorite CS AU EVER. It’s paced incredibly well with its use of paragraphs and general handling of its time span. Additionally, the characters of Emma, Killian, Liam, and Milah feel so real. They’re flawed people, but still agreeable, sympathetic, and enjoyable. It’s just engaging and well worth the read.

-”With a Little Bit of Luck” by @welllpthisishappening. This writer is essentially your AU heaven, for one shots or otherwise! This is just one good representative of her works. The story told is compelling and takes us on a fun adventure. The energy of the fic is kept up by the fantastic banter between Killian and Emma. There’s a certain rhythm to Laura’s fics that you just don’t get anywhere else. Also, she’s a sweetie!

-”A Different Kind of Catch” by @spartanguard. I love geeky goodness, and this fic provides it in spades! I mean, it’s POKEMON! Talk about sold! But there’s more to this story than just fandomy goodness. There’s a spontaneous yet charming connection between Emma and Killian that’s filled with this honest-to-goodness kindness. Their chemistry is unique to any other piece that I’ve ever seen before! It’s a bouncy story that I only discovered fairly recently, but love all the same!

-”All Things Considered” by @the-girl-in-the-band-tshirt. This fic has a really sporty feel to it. Normally, I hate sportiness because I hate sports, but the competitive angle of this story and the radio backdrop of it makes it so much fun to read! What’s also impressive is just how much research was put into the inner workings of the radio world. Full disclosure: I’m friends with the author and I know for a fact that she did some serious research to put this together and it shows!

In addition to these great fics, I’ve seen some interesting looking fics coming from the Fall For CS project! I would have added a couple of my favorites to the list, but as they’re not done, I don’t want to add them until I can credit the actual authors.
