And I'm back with Day 10 of my 12 (Actually 13) Days of CS Fic Recs!!! Today I'm reccing @spartanguard who is not only a wonderful author, but she does incredible and beautiful manips as well!!! Here are my very favorite of her fics!!!

Even Death Won't Part Us Now - Rated M - Two covens, both alike in dignity, / In fair New York, where we lay our scene, / From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, / Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes / A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life; / Whole misadventured piteous overthrows / Do with their death bury their sires' strife. I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas - Rated G - In the mid-1950s, David Nolan and Killian Jones, navy vets and business partners, meet Emma and Mary Margaret Blanchard, a sister act, in Florida. The chance encounter leads them to follow the sisters to Maine for the holiday. Will it be love?

How long have you been in the CS/OUAT fandom?

I watched the show from Day 1 until the very final episode; became active in the fandom during 4A, so coming up on 10 years!

When did you start shipping Captain Swan?

Actively after the first date; low-key in 3x14—"If it can be broken, that means it still works." SWOON. (You speak for all of us, Kaitlyn!)

What drew you to this event?

I love Captain Swan and I love fantasy!

What inspired your topic?

I really enjoyed the movie Jungle Cruise and there were a few aspects of Frank's character that really reminded of Killian (not saying what as I don't want to spoil the movie), so the wheels have been turning on how to adapt it into an AU for a while. But I knew it wouldn't have quite the same meaning with the OUAT characters if we just dropped them into what's essentially a historical fantasy in our world, so twisting it into something that fits into the Enchanted Forest (and associated realms) has been fun.

Inspired by the movie Jungle Cruise, but set in the world of OUAT; Princess Emma is searching for a cure to help her kingdom's war effort—but so is the leader of her enemy kingdom. Alongside her sister, Snow, she seeks out a guide to Neverland, where the mythical cure supposedly hides, and finds Captain Killian Jones, who is less than eager to help. Adventure, danger, and romance follow!

Mostly manips, but the occasional picset if everything I want to convey outstrips my photoshop abilities.

I've been beta'ing almost as long as I've been writing fic, and my day job is as an editor. (Fic is much more exciting than the things I edit at work, though!)

What are you looking forward to most about participating in this event?

Seeing all the fun stories and adventures we get taken on!

We are beyond excited to see Kaitlyn's story drop on 8/14/24! She's also going to be an artist and beta, so she's going to be super busy for CSSNS24!

We are such a thirsty, malnourished fandom...

I just saw someone tag that picture of Colin from the back with “shoulder porn” - like, that’s it. That’s pretty much all that’s in that picture, but we’re going to enjoy the ever-loving fuck out of that shoulder and no one can stop us!!

If we’re not careful, the ASPCA is going to start taking us in and making tear-jerking commercials about us set to Sarah McLachlan songs. “Somewhere, there’s a Colin fan getting way too much enjoyment out of sub-par content.” *in the aaaaaarms of the angel* “But you can make a difference in their small tumblr lives.” *fly awaaaaaaaaaaaaay from here* “For only a dollar a day, you can help us buy enough pizza to leave a trail from Colin’s house to a job in the hopes he’ll take it...”

How long have you been involved in fandom? Specifically OUAT/CS: about 7 years; in general: basically my whole life

What draws you to this event? I LOVE history, and I love CS. What a perfect combination!

Do you have a favorite historical period to learn or read about? Depends on the kind of media I'm consuming. When I was obsessed with Agent Carter, I was super into World War II. The American Civil War has always drawn my attention. And I've been on an American Revolution kick ever since I got into Hamilton. I'm down with just about anything, though I do tend to gravitate towards American and women's history. And I will forever be salty about the cancellation of Timeless.

Why do you like historical fics? Why wouldn't I? Seeing how my favorite characters react in different parts of history is no different than seeing them in any other sort of AU. And I'm excited to be exposed to parts of history I didn't know much about before!

What is the inspiration behind your story? I've always had this idea of Killian as a jaded Vietnam veteran who meets single mom Emma at a war protest (I can also say that the protest scene from Forrest Gump has always held a romantic element to me, but no one will be running through the Reflecting Pool in this). 

Speaking of perfect combos: @spartanguard and this event. What an excellent match between characters, roles, and time period! We’re delighted to give you the excuse to explore it.

It seems like more appear each morning.

What started as a small sprinkle has now spread out to cover half his chest, littering him with a new distinctive look.

He likes it.

It worried him at first; signs of him aging after centuries never growing old, but as his face becomes lined, his skin less taught, his muscles not as strong and reflexes not as sharp... he accepts the inevitable ‘salt and pepper’ hair upon him.

His time has come.

He’s growing old... and gracefully. 

He still puts it on display, proud as ever in how he looks...

And he knows even with his snowy addition...

He looks good. 

He finds he observes it in the morning most, runs his hand over it and takes note of where its sprouting next.

There’s no change in the texture, its as soft as ever and he thankful for that.

He takes one last look at himself and shoots the mirror his trademark smirk.

He may be going grey but he’s still very much Captain Hook.

And he’s still devilishly handsome.
