Summary: Princess Emma has gone missing and with the kings promise of a special reward for the one to bring her home safely her friends plan to be the ones to do just that.
A/N: The Rescue is a one shot fic I wrote for Captain Swan January Joy 2021 before that it was a prompt from a Wander Over Yonder episode for a good couple of years. Though I do like my one shot version I will admit I rushed the ending so I am now writing it as a multi chapter on AO3.
So, this is going to be my first multi chapter fic. Set after the finale spoilers, including what happens to Emma and who she meets.
Words: 957
Rating: F for feels.
EDIT: So i decided to change a few things now given the dagger scene from the finale, trying to keep it as canon as possible.
“Wait!” She yells nervously. She runs toward Regina, whose stern body is suspended two feet off the grown, her body completely surrounded by the darkness trying to consume her. “You didn’t work this hard to have your happiness destroyed,”
She turns to her parents and Killian, the wind picking up, piushing her hair in ten different directions. “You took the darkness out of me once. I need you to do it again, as heroes.”
The dagger is held tight in her hand, and before she has the opportunity to do what she is about to do, she hears her name. She knows who it is. It’s him. It always is. “Emma!” She turns around to see him walking towards her, reaching out to stop her.
“Emma, please.”
“No, don’t do this.” She felt a tear run down her face, and she know that more were about to follow. The way he was looking at her made her heart completely melt. She was all he had, and she knew that. Everyone he had ever loved he lost: his brother, Milah, his family, everyone. She hated that she was about to do the same to him.
She didn’t want to leave him. She loved him. She wanted a future with him, a life. Why did it take her until this moment to realize, because now it was too late? She tightened the grip on his hand and pulled it down to settle over her heart. It wasn’t the most ideal time to so this, but she knew she needed to tell him before the opportunity was gone forever. He needed to know.
“I love you.” It came out as a whisper, and his eyes closed tighter as he let a few tears drop. He looked up at her, and she noticed that his eyes were a deeper shade of blue, like the color of the sea at night. They were watery, rimmed with red and mapping her face one last time.
She let her forehead drop against his, letting one last tear drop before she pushed him away. She turned around and thrust her hand and dagger up into the darkness, letting it consume her instead. The thunder rattled more, and lightning took over the night sky. She felt like she was being pulled into a million different directions. She caught a glimpse of Regina being released from her hold and running to Robin.
The last thing she heard was the voice of the man she loved more than anything calling her name with everything he had. Then, after looking right at him for what felt like forever, she swore she saw a bright light in front of her, and then, nothing.
The wind stopped and the lightning was gone, leaving only the dagger lying in the middle of the street. “Emma?” Killian was in awe. He heard Emma’s mother crying in Dave’s arms, and he wished in this moment he had someone to hold him as well. Of course, the person he would want was no longer here.
He walked his way up to where the dagger was, scared to death about what might be written on it. When he got to the spot, he fell to his knees in front if it, picking it up and turning it over to read the name that was engraved upon it.
Emma Swan.
She was the dark one. It should’ve made him completely fall apart to know that her heart would succumb to darkness, but he kept a slight grin on his tear stained face. She may be the new dark one, but the presence of her name on the dagger assured him of one thing.
She was alive, and he would find her.
She gasped for air when she felt a hand on her arm. Maybe it hadn’t worked, maybe she was just in the middle of the street, Killian by her side. She opened her eyes expecting to see the night sky and her pirate coaxing her awake. “Killian?”
But she was wrong. She awoke to find herself blinded by the light of a bright white sky. She could smell the scent of sea water, and she felt sand in her hair and fingernails. She also felt a hand on her arm, trying to help her up.
She turned her head to find a man with light brown hair and scruff. It was blurry, but she could make out that his eyes were blue, and they reminded her a lot of Killian’s.
“Hook? Killian?”
“Shh, lass. It’s alright, I’ve got you.” He guided her back to sit up and was holding her hand in his. When her sight came back to her fully, she recognized that he was wearing a completely white outfit, and he looked like he hadn’t slept in years.
“Where am I?” She whispered.
“I think that answer should wait for when you’re more equipped to handle it.” He helped her to fully stand up, looking at her with a very concerned face. She looked around where she was, not that it was very easy to see. It was really bright, but she could tell that she was on the shore. It was long and cold, and she could hear the waves from the sea crashing not far from her. She felt a tingling sensation in her fingers, probably her magic. But it felt different, darker.
“What’s your name, lass?” The strange man asked her, pulling her away from her thoughts.
“Emma…Swan.”
He nodded, brushing remnants of sand of his arm, reaching a hand out to shake hers.
