that interview carlos gave today was so insightful. he explained so clearly why the f1 media is frustrating for the drivers and ultimately negativity sells. which i think is something a lot of us find irritating as well, the twisting of every interview into a negative, even if the driver said five positive things as well.
its so obvious that this is smthn carlos and lando have spoken abt a lot together. the hypocrisy of the media and their shared frustration over it, which is unsurprising given how their seasons are being portrayed. carlos constantly struggling and not being given any grace as he adjusts to a new team and lando being too weak, too error-prone to possibly win the wdc.
it speaks to the closeness of their relationship that they can discuss these things together without fearing judgement. like it must be so reassuring to know you can complain to someone abt your public image and not be thought of as self-centred.
idk, i just think theyre so honest w/ each other and carlos has shared a little bit of that vulnerability today. he's shared that it does affect them, that they do care about what we think of them, and he's done in such a way that you can't argue against it.
the key moment for me though, is when he said he finds the media's treatment of lando 'frustrating'. there's nothing like getting annoyed on behalf of your ex-teammate and not friend 👀 it almost feels like he's speaking for lando, who can't really defend himself without being picked apart again.
his steadfast and unwavering support and defence of lando is just lovely.
