My Journey so far in the Digital World

I know what I want and I go for it, no matter how tough it may seem. Yeah, alongside my ongoing Masters program, I still attend external online courses and this is one of them. 

It was held virtually and the overflow of knowledge from each trainer was extremely great. I intend to be a professional web developer with various art and design knowledge. The knowledge I’m beginning to attain in these past few months as an Interactive Digital Media student has equipped me to finally introduce myself as a ‘Web Developer’. Yes, you heard me right, even if I’m not done with learning HTML5, CSS and JavaScript ( I really can’t wait to share how that goes). The thing is, I knew nothing about p5js as at January, 2020 but now I can successfully write codes and create beautiful designs on p5js. From my years as an artist and my recent experience in web design, I’ve come to agree with Cameron Moll when he said ‘What separates design from art is that design is meant to be... functional.’ Which means that design has to be practical and useful, rather than attractive. I have also learnt from Steve Krug in his book ‘Don’t make me think: A common sense approach to web usability’ that ‘If there's one thing you learn by working on a lot of different web sites, it's that almost any design idea, no matter how appallingly bad can be made usable in the right circumstances, with enough effort.’ I’ll stop here for now, but in my next post, I’ll update you more on HTML.
