Well, guys, it’s that time of year again! This is my third time doing it (skipped 2016), so hopefully, I won’t make too many mistakes!

What/when is it? So, the basic idea of this is to celebrate the holidays with our fellow fandom friends and maybe even make a new one! You can enter as early as today, you’ll get your URL around November 29-30th, then it starts Dec. 1st!

The rules: you must send me a message saying “CSS17″  to join (it keeps people who don’t actually want to do it from liking the post and joining), have anonymous messaging open on your ask box (ask if you are unsure), and (preferably) send one thing a day starting on December 1st up until Christmas Day. Then, on Christmas Day, reveal your identity! I will be checking to see if anon is enabled and let you know if it’s not. The deadline to join is November 28th, giving me time to assign everyone a secret Santa, which will be done through a private message I send. Also, I cannot stress enough how important it is that your anon box is open, it’s the main point of Secret Santa.

What the heck do I give them??  Now, the gifts can be anything, although a nice message is probably the easiest way to keep your anonymity. Some people choose to create a second blog and title it “(insert blogs URL)’s Secret Santa 2015” or something. That’s fine as well, just make sure they know about it! If you feel like you won’t be able to get on from Dec 1-25, either make sure your receiver knows so they don’t think you forgot about them, or try to tell them beforehand.

Other important stuff: If for some random reason, I have to make an announcement, I will do like previous years and tag it “CastleSS2017″. Don’t be afraid to join, it’s super fun and (most of) the members of the Castle fandom are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, trust me (the complete stranger on the internet ;)). I can’t wait to do this again!

Merry Christmas from your SS!! My favourite gift to give this year was probably a book for my dad. My favourite gift to receive was probably really cute Moomin towel! How about you? I have truly enjoyed sending you messages and chatting with you this past month and I hope you’ve enjoyed too! Merry Christmas! It’s so nice to finally “meet” you! Those sound like great gifts! I think my favorite gift to give this year was the coffee mug I gave my brother that says “All I know is one of us is right and the other one is you” because it just cracked me up and I knew he would love it. My favorite gift to get was actually a tie between the journals and pens my brother gave me (because he knows what a nerd for writing supplies I am) and the iPad my parents surprised me with. 

I’ve had so much fun chatting with you this month and learning about your family traditions. Thank you for being an awesome Santa! Have a wonderful day-after-Christmas! :)

Seeing a show in London is amazing and I wish I could go there more often haha. Seeing a show in New York sounds super cool too, I would love to do that some day! Computer would be such a great gift. I love giving something special too but I'm just the worst to come up with ideas which is kinda sad. Oh no, I hope you getter better soon! I've been feeling kinda sick for like two weeks now so I feel you though haha. What has been the funniest gift you've received? Also do you miss Castle? :) -SS

New York was great in general - I loved it so much and I would love to go back soon. It’s a crazy place, haha.

It really was. I loved that desktop (and that laptop, until it broke in about 12 different place ahah) so much. I don’t know that I would be here without it!

Thanks, Santa. I’m so annoyed that I almost made it to the end of the semester without getting sick, and I ended up fighting my body in the final week of work before the break. I’m sorry you’re feeling under the weather, too! 

The funniest gift I’ve ever received is probably the set of oversized Space Shuttle slippers (as in slippers that are shaped like space shuttles haha) my brother got me a couple of years ago. Those things are goofy, but totally awesome. What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever received? 

Gah, I miss Castle like crazy. Each and every day I miss Castle.

Who's Secret Santa were you?

Hi Anon! I was @encantadaa​‘s Secret Santa this year! Which was super fun because she’s a good friend :) Of course, since she’s a good friend, she knows my speech pattern/writing pattern and made me really early on in the month, haha.

Hi! I hope you had great time at the wedding! I love putting up all the lights and candles around Christmas. I live in northern Europe so it is really dark in here (for example, today sun rose at 9am and set 3pm so that gives us 6 hours of daylight and it's raining..) so candles and lights are really nice. I also love snow which usually comes around Christmas. Do you like snow? And have you already put up your Christmas tree? If so, do you have artificial or natural Christmas tree? -SS

Thanks, Santa! I had a great time at the wedding. I was a little afraid I might not know anyone (besides the person getting married, of course), but I sat at a table with a couple of other people I knew from school, so that was super nice. And there was ridiculous dancing and really good food, and it was awesome. :)

Oh my gosh, that’s not a lot of daylight at all. I love lights and candles, too. And making it nice and cozy to be able to just sit and read or write and relax. I love the idea of snow the most, I think, haha. And I love when it first starts to fall and you’re filled with that “It’s SNOW!” feeling, but once it’s been on the ground for a while and it’s just been trampled on and has turned gross or become more like ice, that’s when I like it less.

We have already put up our tree! We have two, actually - one in the foyer of the house and one in the family room. Which sounds kind of grand and extravagant, but it’s just that my mom really likes decorating for Christmas haha so she would put something in every room if she could. We joke that we have to run in serpentine patterns if we want to avoid being decorated. They’re both artificial, though, because we put them up so early and leave them up until the 6th of January or later (usually later because of the time constraints to take them down). What about yours? Have you already started decorating?

Your dog sounds adorable! I've travelled in Europe quite a lot (been in Italy, Britain, Sweden, Estonia and Greece) but never outside of Europe. I would love to though. Besides Finnish and English I've studied Swedish but I'm not good at it at all haha. I would love to learn French too as well as Latin, Spanish and Russian haha. My least fave ep is probably Heartbreak Hotel but the Squab (+ whole of season 8 honestly) I didn't like either. Ohh but how did you find Castle and get into it? :) -SS

She is adorable! (She’s also a troublemaker, but she is adorable.) That’s really cool! I’ve been to Canada (which I don’t count as being overseas) and various places in the US. I would so love to go to Greece, though.

I won’t lie, I have such a soft spot for Heartbreak Hotel because of the fic I wrote that starts during that ep (and goes AU fast haha), but I totally get why it’s not a favorite. So when Castle first started, a friend - two friends, actually - of mine totally suggested I watch it, but I didn’t (and I kick myself for that now) for various reasons - outspoken roommates and family members who didn’t want to watch, other shows I watched at the time, school and extracurricular commitments, etc. And then a few years later, I caught the reruns on TNT and was totally, totally hooked. I started watching live in the middle of Season 5. So, to the friends who told me so, I apologize. What about you, Santa? :)

Heyyy, this is your Secret Santa! So, this December I will entertain you with my messages (because I'm not too artistic haha) and I hope you enjoy them! You should definitely watch Friends sometime! And finish HIMYM - although I can say I hate the last episode with passion but other than that it's pretty great. I stopped watching OUAT at 4th season though I eventually watched season 4 and 5 when my friend borrowed me her dvds haha. I own a few Nikki Heats but I still haven't read them! I should probably? I also really like the classics - Pride and Prejudice is one of my favourites. Also I kinda grew with Harry Potter so I love those so much! And

(continues again) I really like The Hunger Games too haha! I would actually need book recommendations too though so I guess I’m no help haha. I’m pretty excited about Christmas this year although I have too many gifts to wrap - my mom has somehow relocated that to me and now I’m wrapping everything, even gifts for myself lol! What are you most excited about Christmas this year? :) - SS

To be honest with you, I think knowing how HIMYM ends has been the biggest reason why I haven’t finished it! Is there an ep I can stop on and consider the series finale instead? Haha. 

The Nikki Heat books are fun, definitely. I admit I haven’t read Heat Storm yet, but I’ve enjoyed all of them up to the last one. It’s fun to spot all the Castle references - cases, the characters he name drops, etc. Plus they’re fun to read to kind of gauge how Castle thinks about events in his and Beckett’s life.

I don’t think I’ve ever read Pride and Prejudice, but I remember enjoying Jane Eyre when I read it! The right classic story can be awesome, it really can.

I have so many gifts to wrap, too! I really should start because I wouldn’t mind having my closet floor clear again, haha. I can’t say I’ll have gifts for myself to wrap, though... unless I wrap some of my impulse purchases. (I might just do that!) This year I’m excited to have time off from work, but that’s not really about Christmas itself. Actual Christmas-related things I’m excited about: giving out the gifts I’ve been gleefully collecting and having my little cousins come over to my house on Christmas Day. What about you? :)
