Now that our first comp is available at http://www.stickshiftrecords.bandcamp.com/, we're going to showcase each one of the bands, one per day in order by track number, until we've highlighted all of them.
Today is DAMN BROADS from Winstead, CT. The Broads are a power trio that hit hard and play hardcore punk that fits really well into what I have come to think of as a regional Connecticut hardcore punk sound/tradition. Their songs evoke classic street and hardcore punk - comparisons that come to mind include The Pist and Conflict. They write power packed songs that don't pull any punches, and like Conflict the music is always interesting to listen to (lyrically and musically). The Broads capture all the speed, intensity, and ire of the hardest and fastest punk rock while keeping things dynamic and new - and did I mention their vocals? Talk about quality hardcore punk vocals - you can hear the passion and power when these ladies get on the microphone (and all three of them do get on the microphone).
The Broads are a great listen - my hope is that these ladies will be around for a while - I can't wait to hear what they put out next. Definitely check them out and buy their record!
