I am actually begging some people to just let some spaces exist untouched by real-world issues and horrors.

Like I've lost count of the amount of times peaceful game or fandom servers have been ruined by people stampeding in with political rants, bitching about world issues, demanding internal activism, demanding vent channels so they can whine about their shitty parents, ect.

Like. Respectfully. Not every single space has to be inclusive of and welcoming of outside topics. The real world sucks. We don't needed to be reminded of that absolutely everywhere.

People should not have to share their immensely personal and deeply rooted trauma to justify their interests in fiction, they should just be able to like what they like

Hey. Hey, you. The people who have a strong preference for the explicit and smutty side of fandom. You’re super valid and are doing nothing wrong by having sexuality be your main focus. Sexuality being important to you doesn’t make you a creep, you’re not objectifying people because you prefer to explore characters’ and ships’ sexual lives and preferences. Sex is not shameful. Don’t let anyone try to shame you for celebrating and loving sexuality. Sex and smut have been an important part of fandom throughout it’s whole history. You don’t have to meet any silly quota of non-sexual fandom interests.

There’s still so much sex negativity in the world. People can have sex negative opinions without even realizing because they’ve grown up in such a repressive and conservative culture. Fandom has always been a place to escape that repressive culture.

And always remember, you don’t owe anyone an argument or debate.

the new wave of puritanism around the US is genuinely starting to distress me like it actually freaks me out. i recently saw this video of a woman talking about how disgusting this book was (about a 16 year old being groomed by her coach) and how it should be illegal, and literally EVERYONE in the comments was agreeing, saying how they supported “reasonable” book banning + censorship, about how it was child abuse material, how the author should be arrested, etc. and i just. how does no one see it. do they not realize censoring one thing can and will lead to extreme censorship? do they not realize that this is fiction? that it can’t be csa because no child was harmed? i feel like a crazy person.

i saw an instagram reel where someone said "i don't draw nsfw because it's kinda wrong..."

and like . it really baffled me. because people in the comments were AGREEING. and anyone who disagreed and said it wasn't wrong got called a "degenerate gooner", "porn addicted" or something along those lines.

purity culture has gone so far that if you even create sexual media that ISN'T taboo, you're suddenly the Worst Person Ever. it just sucks
