Carbon Tax Facts: Almost EVERYTHING will be more EXPENSIVE. Gas, heating, utilities, food, anything transported or produced with fossil fuels. Rebates will not come close to covering the higher cost of living. Jobs and investment will go to other countries without the carbon tax. BC is a good example... They've had a carbon tax since 2008 Highest fuel prices in North America and no improvement to climate... It's no longer revenue neutral... money just disappears... None of promises made in 2008 we're achieved... The irony is, while the #CTax is killing Canadian Farmers. Imported food has less added to the product cost. The carbon tax will passed on to consumers, buried in the cost of goods. The end user will pay, as always. If manufacturers and retailers were smart, they would add it as an invoice line item as a surcharge, so the effect would be transparent at every step of the supply chain. That would be a great idea, but how could your grocery store for example show or calculate the carbon tax from the farm, transport their heating and cooling systems etc? It would be a great idea and show the true cost to the consumer, to show them how much they’re getting screwed. Of course jobs & investment will flee. #CarbonTax will crush the economy, jobs and put ppl into heat-or-eat poverty, and will not meet #ParisAgreement targets - not even if ALL countries did their 'fair share' - and most aren't even trying.
