The Tigers made their entrance with the usual call sign and growl, and she bit back her giggle, the crinkles next to her eyes giving her away. Jonathan's impersonation of the team had sent her into delirious laughing fits for God knows how long, and just thinking about his mocking roar made her feel hysterical.

“What’s that, pet? Didn’t hear you.” “Don't go,” she said, still quiet. Focus no longer directed at the floor, Buffy gave him that doe-eyed look and hooked him right back in; both his feet already planted back on her bedroom floor. Deep lines of exhaustion etched across her face told him the last of her fight was over for the day. Two words, a simple request, seemed to drain her completely of whatever life was left in her. Silly, of course, since he would oblige them gladly. He was curious why she wanted him there, but he’d save that pondering for later. Pushing for an explanation would scare her away, as she was still so fragile and helpless.
