I’ve been learning digital painting (and other stuff) on this neat site CTRL+Paint and it’s been really fun. A lot of the stuff is simple once you have someone to just explain it to you. The videos are short and easy to follow, and better yet--They’re all free! I recommend it for anyone who needs a good learning site but doesn’t have the time for hour long videos :)
anyway, after doing practice exercises, I wanted to actually draw something. A simple greyscale Lima bust will do!
Jittery custom brush + brush blending modes are MAGICAL

Thanks for this list. I’ve never heard most of these websites, which is great because I love discovering new ones. I’ve visited Art Of Manliness quite a few times though and I’m glad it’s on this list.
This Ctrl+Paint turned out to be an awesome surprise for me. I’ve been wanting to learning hand drawing lately and just started looking for a course. Checked out Ctrl+Paint and they start you off…

My first digital painting, done in about 3h.
I can't paint IRL, I watched a lot of Ctrl Paint videos and tried my luck on this, based on a photo that appears in one of the videos.
No color picking from reference image. All done using the basic circular brush, circular eraser, and temp layers.
Progress pics.
This was pretty painful. If you are bored and like to torture yourself, I highly suggest drawing 20 rectangles.
Trying get get familiar with environmental scenery. Figured starting off simple would help.
