Been taking a dynamic sketching class and we just got to the good part 👈😎👈
hey, thank you for answering my last question. if you dont mind one more, do you take breaks to rest your eyes when you do studies or do you do them in one sitting? my eyes tend to lose focus quickly and im not sure if i just gotta power through that or if there's tricks besides flipping the canvas
So I like to do a full pass first - so I get all the basic colors on screen in the first go. I’ll tweak as much as I feel like and then I’ll call it a day for that particular study.
I’ll then come back the next day and see if I missed something since my eyes will be fresh and then fix from there. You only have a few minutes while your eyes are fresh though so you gotta move quick lmao.
I tend to prefer flipping the canvas more for when I’m doing construction and linework, but thats just me. Hope this helps.
hey if you dont mind could you tell me how long you those color studies take you? on average is fine if you dont have a specific time limit, thank you!
Hey bruv, on average they were taking me about 1-2 hours a pop. You want to stay as loose as possible (I used Matt Kohr’s chalk brush from Ctrl Paint) and focus just on seeing and recreating the right colors from your reference.
Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂
Color study still lifes are super hard but god damn they’re satisfying
Been gettin my color study game on - these are from Ctrl+Paint’s Color Starter Kit and its REALLY helped me wrap my head around color.
