Connecticut Wine Festival returns to the Durham Fair
The Durham Fair will once again be hosting the Connecticut Wine Festival on the town green during three days of the Durham Fair, September 26-28, 2014. Fair goers of legal age will be able to sample wines featuring Connecticut grown grapes from seven of our Connecticut wineries. The participating wineries are Bishop’s Orchards Winery (Guilford), Hopkins Vineyard (Warren), Jonathan Edwards Winery (North Stonington), Jones Winery (Shelton), Paradise Hills Vineyard (Wallingford), Priam Vineyards (Colchester) and Sunset Meadow Vineyards (Goshen).
The Wine Festival will be open on Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 8pm and on Sunday from 12pm to 6pm. There is an additional charge for this sampling festival. On Friday, the cost is $12 and on Saturday and Sunday, the cost is $15. Guests will have an opportunity to sample 4 different wines from each of the 7 wineries, offering a variety of wine styles. There will also be a wine education class conducted by the Wine Institute of New England on Sunday at 2pm. Certified Specialist of Wine, Renée Allen, will be conducting a wine seminar, “Tasting Tips and Busting Myths.”
To complement the Wine Festival, Adams Hometown Market will have snack items available for purchase inside the tent. Attendees will also be able to purchase full bottles of wine from the CT Wine Store. Purchases will be held for pickup as the guest is exiting the Fair. Attendees can get their CT Wine Trail Passport stamp at this festival.
The CT Wine Festival was created to celebrate CT agriculture and to help promote the CT Wine Trail. More information about the Connecticut Wine Trail and the CT Wine Festival at the Durham Fair can be found at www.ctwine.com or by emailing [email protected].
