Tipi Tips
I bought these things from amazon to help me with the top of the tipi. Then, I made sure to have plenty of twine on hand & cut down a bunch of bamboo that we have on the side of the house. I think you can find bamboo (which are very light & very strong) at a gardening place or look around for some strong sticks that are about 6-8′ tall.
Then, I got my shovel – the hardest part, but wasn’t half as bad as I thought. I dug out a roundish trench because I wanted there to be a big opening (so the kids wouldn’t knock it down going in & out). I stuck the poles in the ground & pushed them down as far as I could. Then, I took a few of them & put them through those things I got from amazon. Then I was able to just lean the rest on those super secure poles & began wrapping everything as tightly as I could – without bending things out of shape – starting at the top. I just went with it & guessed at the spacing. You have to kind of train the plants to climb a little, from what I’ve read.
Lastly, I put some super rich organic soil in the trench & then planted my bean starts (planting the seeds would probably be pretty quick, too). Water them & wait for the magic!
