For reference, here are my four movie lists. For previous movie update posts, you can check out the monthly movie update tag.
This month's list is considerably longer than usual bc of the cucumberpatch marathon, hah. Feels good to finally take some movies off that infernal to-watch list.
[EDITED BC I FORGOT HAWKING HOW DID I FORGET HAWKING. Also imma start including my little star ranking system in these posts]
*Amazing Grace (2006) - I liked this one a whole lot more than the first two movies from the cucumberpatch marathon. It was surprisingly moving.
*Stuart: A Life Backwards (2007) - I did not expect this movie to be as dark as it was; for some reason I assumed it was going to be a comedy or something. And I mean there were funny parts, but I liked the movie a lot. Loved Tom Hardy's performance, and Benny was amazing as always.
The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) - Parts of this film made me very angry. Also it was surreal to see Sherlock and Black Widow doing the do o.o
*Creation (2009) - Dude. I did not expect this one to be so goddamn emotional. I also had no idea Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly were the main characters (as you can probably tell, I went into these films with VERY little idea as to what they were about). But wow wow wow, I cried so hard. (Admittedly, I cry easily.) The film was masterfully done though, I think. Fine acting, good pacing, super surreal at times. Idk I liked it. I'd recommend it.
Four Lions (2010) - Black comedy. Still don't quite know how to feel about it.
*Van Gogh: Painted with Words (2010) - Almost skipped this one bc it said it was a documentary but wow I'm so glad I didn't. I will never ever be over Benedict's range, like his ability to completely transform into someone else. I can't. Ugh.
*The Whistleblower (2010) - I was INCENSED by so much of the content of this film like it left me so angry and so sad ugh ugh ugh. It was a very, very good movie, though. Like I got halfway through before realizing that Benedict was only there for maybe two scenes toward the beginning and I shrugged that realization right off bc I was HOOKED. Very good film. Watch it. Get furious. Cry.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) - All I will say is that I did not enjoy this movie as much as I thought I would. Stunning performances from an amazing cast, of course, but yeah. Didn't care much for it. Perhaps a rewatch will redeem it, but for now, meh.
**War Horse (2011) - I never ever thought I would cry so hard about a HORSE. That is all. (Oh no also Hiddles. He's the sweetest sweetheart ever to sweet in this movie.)
Wreckers (2011) - Pointless and stupid is all I got out of this film (in other words, it was melodramatic and strange and unreliable narrator and blegh ew why)
The Fifth Estate (2013) - Interesting, but I wouldn't watch it again.
August: Osage County (2013) - What was the POINT, is my takeaway. But loved Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts :) Also, not sure about Benny's accent but that song was adorable.
*The Boondock Saints (1999) - Watched this with my sister bc she's a big fan of Daryl Dixon which means she's a big fan of Norman Reedus. I enjoyed it. I also have finally discovered where that epic flail gif comes from. (Also should I watch the sequel?? I might add it to my to-watch list.)
**Hawking (2004) - I loved this movie so so so much like sdflskdjflkjgh idk how I managed to forget that I'd watched this movie wowww. I'm an actual idiot

"imitation game" comes out next friday and you can always go watch Tinker tailor Soldier Spy, War Horse, the Fifth Estate, and Third Star while you wait
...you must be new here!
but i promise i don't mean that in a mean way, bahaha. i literally watched every single one of those movies like a week or so ago (except the fifth estate, which i finished watching pretty much right before i made that post, hah).
the goal was to go through his entire filmography, excepting a documentary or two. though i did watch the van gogh documentary; that one was quite good.
after august: osage county i'm basically gonna be out of movies oh no why D:
i mean i've seen star trek into darkness and 12 years a slave already
i guess the only thing left that i haven't seen is desolation of smaug.. so after august osage county i'll probably marathon the first two hobbit films bc i only watched the first one once and gosh that feels like it was forever ago already so
