Why enjoying Doctor Cuddles is okay!!
So, clearly this is a problem with some of the fanbase as well as the creators. Cuddles was very clearly made to be a hated character, but even the most hated characters will have fans (like mee). Here is a small blog about how it's okay to like Cuddles as a way to enter this stuff. Firstly, he's one of the most well-written and developed characters in the comic. From making it clear how malicious he is since the beginning, to giving him character when it comes to character relationships and events in the comic. Of course, some of the writing for him or in general isn't the best, but for a villain that's supposed to be two-dimensional, he has so much about him! Such as reflecting his fears, reflecting his (fucked up) thoughts about certain topics, as well as showing interactions with characters like fellow patients and staff members! Why was he developed on as a character if we are supposed to hate him? And secondly, liking villainous / "evil" characters isn't a bad thing! In fact, it's been very normalized in today's media! Take Disney villains as an example. You can like a fucked up character without justifying what this character may do or say (such as, shocker, I don't think misogyny is cool). It's completely normal to like an evil character and there's nothing wrong with it!! Now, you may ask the following: "Isn't Cuddles based on an abuser?" and to that I may answer: A lot of the characters in the comics are based on people or kit herself. You can like Cuddles and not justify the fact the abuser he's based off of. Why? Because abuse is a very real thing, meanwhile Cuddles is simply a character. As an example, if someone liked Barry, does that mean they immediately justify Kittycorn and how kit acts? Obviously not.
Cuddles is such an interesting and goofy character / villain and it's so cool to see him being appreciated on this side of tumblr!!
Thinking more on Cuddles, imagine instead of him 'breaking people until they have no more will to live and not want to be alive anymore, sometimes driving them to suicide' like his current profile says, he wants to keep them alive for as long as possible? Sure, if a patient dies their family will still need to pay any leftover hospital bills. But if they're alive, he makes more money that way, for 'treatments' and days stayed in the hospital. Inpatient treatment can cost between $500 and $2000 dollars per day. He'd benefit more to keep people alive. - 🐈⬛🏴☠️
