The sounds of rocket jumping soldiers roared across Granary’s empty plains. Several of the rookies were practicing the ‘roll out’ jumps, taking turns. Some landed on the pipe. Some landed hard on the soil. Some didn’t even make it off the ground.
The scowling face of the next man up to the plate calculated the next angle. He strode up to the wall and, leaping forward, shot.
Which landed him in Respawn. Rocket was too close to the wall, and he hadn’t planned on it taking out the box next to him. Wood shrapnel was kind of brutal.
Where he respawned, however, wasn’t Granary. It wasn’t familiar at all. The soldier sighed, adjusting his helmet over his platinum blond hair. Great. It was too quiet here. And cold. It smelled of sharp ice and dusty snow.
“Hello?” The soldier called out. Nothing. Nothing, and then... the howl of wind, and a crow in the distance. Weird. He grimaced and strode out into the icy base, intent on finding... well. Someone. Where was he?
