so I’m in a 24 hour Paul Ready lockdown after watching The Terror again, and in Cuffs (2015), a britsh coppaganda show, his character is a sad and lonely police inspector. In the first episode he visits a dominatrix. Intriguing character choice! other parts of the show involve prostitutes, so I thought the show may try to do some commentary or exploration of issues related to sex work; it didn’t.

anyhoo, his storyline over the season is that he is dealing with the stress of looking after his abusive elderly father, who has just had a stroke. This story arc ends with him finally realizing that the best thing for both of them is for his father to live in a nursing home. So he checks his father in, and a nurse introduces herself

and the nurse is the dominatrix

what the fuck is that supposed to mean? what was that relationship? did he pick that nursing home specifically? is she ok with that? what were the showmakers trying to imply?

1. because that show had so much potential and had so many great characters

finished watching cuffs the other night and predictably i am Still thinking about the scene in ep 7 where felix is tenderly holding the girl’s wrist and his hands are very big compared to hers
