All I'm gonna say in regards of Jacob being sidelined is,if all the Loustat shippers really care for both characters like they said the I want them to be loud if the show start mistreating the other half of their ship.you Lestat fans have a bigger voice and you are listened

my two cents is that it depends on what "being sidelined" means to people.

If by sidelined people mean his character becoming just a background character (like in the books) and not getting any arc or plot relevant stories ever again, then sure, that would be upsetting. (Even if I personally don't think that will happen.)

However I fear some people with "sidelined" mean what happened with Lestat in season 2. Season 1 and 2 where about Louis and his point of view and experience, so it would make sense for season 3 to focuses more on Lestat, especially given that we saw almost nothing from his POV and saw so little of him in season 2.

It was fine when in season 2 Lestat was "sidelined" to explore Louis story and it will be fine if in season 3 Louis gets "sidelined" to explore more of Lestat story.

I know many people don't even like lestat, but I need people to remember that he actually is THEE main character of the books, of course fans of the books are going to want to see his story mire than anything; just because they ship Lestat with Louis it doesn't have to mean that they must also like both of the characters equally. Lestat has always been the fan favourite character.

I personally am not a die hard fan of the books and I want (and also think it will happen) Louis to have a much bigger role and be a more developed character when it comes to everything that happenes after the first book, but again, we literally just got two seasons of Louis pov with Lestat being only shown from Louis pov and him being almost always gone in season 2, if in season 3 Louis gets a little sidelined the same way Lestat did in season 2, people shouldn't immediately protest and be upset. I know people have lost their attention span and can't handle long and numerous seasons of tv shows, but give it some time. We literally only got 16 episodes so far, that used to be between half and a full season before. The goal is to have so many more seasons where we can develop and explore characters and storylines and yet people seem to want answers and resolutions immediately and without having to wait (eg: loustat shippers who were saying that if they didn't get a satisfactory loustat ending in season 2 they would quit the show).

(to be clear: I agree with op ask if they mean Louis not getting any more stories, development and arcs; I don't agree with op if they mean Louis getting momentarily sidelined in season 3 to give Lestat his moment to shine and see his story and point of view. Hope it makes sense. Also, just my view, not trying to change anyone's mind or attack someone else's pov, just a friendly exchange of opinions.)

Hi! I would be happy to explain this for you.

What most people don’t seem to realize about queerbaiting is that it is a marketing technique. It is not “the writers wrote this one scene and the actors acted it in a way that could be interpreted as romantic and then they don’t get together.” Queerbaiting is when producers and executives advertise a potential queer relationship to gain viewers.

That is not something, to my knowledge, that has ever happened with 911. The producers and actors have acknowledged Buddie and the fact that some fans see it as romantic, but never have they used that knowledge to try and get more people to watch the show. The advertising for this show is mainly through promos and sneak peeks that show the crazy calls the 118 (+Maddie and Athena) have to deal with, or they show some sweet personal moments between the characters. The FOX account does tweet out some stuff that promotes the Buddie relationship, but I also don’t see that as queerbaiting. They are highlighting an important relationship and moment in the episode and people can choose to interpret that how they like.

You might bring up the FOX Spain promo that had the three main couples and then something that translated to “and the one we’ve all been waiting for: Buck and Eddie,” but here’s why that also isn’t queerbaiting: FOX Spain is a separate television channel broadcast in Spain and a few other countries in Europe and Northwest Africa. All they do is broadcast what FOX, the big company in the US, sends to them. If they want to make a promo like that, it’s up to them! I guess the executives over there in Spain see Buddie that way, but again, they don’t make the decisions!

Honest Opinions

I’m tagging every main ship in the show because this isn’t a question regarding who you ship together (I don’t care), and I didn’t want to exclude a member of the LGBT community who ships something different than what I do. This question is specifically for bisexual, pansexual, or however else you may identify if you have the capacity to fall in love with more than one sex, so if that doesn’t include you, please don’t give your opinion.

This tweet from Carina has been bothering me:

I identify as queer. I’ve fallen for both men and women. Whether I’m in a relationship with a man or a woman at the time, I’m still queer. I’m always going to be a part of the LGBT community. However, if I’m in a relationship with a man, even though I’d still be queer, I don’t believe I’d be part of a queer relationship. My relationship as M/F provides safety and normalization that people in M/M and F/F relationships have fought long and hard for, and in many cases still lack.

Five years ago, Michael and a woman would have been allowed to freely get married if they wanted to. Even though Michael is bisexual, his relationship with a person of the opposite sex wouldn’t have been hindered. If he had been with Alex, It would have been illegal.

If Michael had been the one to enlist, he could have had his girlfriend come and visit, and introduce her as his significant other. If Alex had invited Michael, he would have either had to lie about their relationship or tell the truth and be discharged.

If Michael and a woman decided to go on a trip to Jamaica, or Antigua, or Brunei, they can….without fear of repercussions. If Michael and Alex were to go to any of these places, they would run the risk of imprisonment or being stoned to death if their sexual relationship was discovered.

If Michael and a woman walked down the street holding hands or kissed in public, no one would give them a second glance. They wouldn’t be looking over their shoulder to see if anyone might attack them or see people stare in disgust, or hear complete strangers mumble homophobic slurs as they walked by. This is, without a doubt, something that every M/M, F/F relationship experiences in their lifetime. Michael and Alex would too. They already have, together.

Michael is bisexual. That doesn’t change, whether he is in a relationship with a man or a woman. He’s always LGBT, but for me, if he were in a relationship with a woman, I couldn’t say in good conscious that they’re in a queer relationship. I just can’t. Their relationship would never be seen as such or have to go through the struggles that M/M and F/F relationships have had to and still have to go through when it comes to society’s historical perception of what’s “normal”.

So I want to hear from other bisexual, pansexual, queer people. What are your thoughts on this? If you, yourself, were in a relationship with someone of the opposite sex would you consider your relationship with that person to be queer? Do you see any differences to how strangers or society treat you when you’re with your own sex verses the opposite?

I'm bisexual and I've always found it really strange when other people say that if you are bisexual regardless of who you are in a relationship with the relationship will always be a queer one because you are bisexual. From how I see it that's not true. I'm bisexual and will always be bisexual regardless of who I'm with. If I end up with the opposite sex that means that I'm bisexual but the relationship is a hetero relationship because we are of opposite sex. Even if my partner is bisexual the relationship is still a hetero one. But that doesn't mean that now I am heterosexual, just that my relationship is a hetero. The same thing applies if I end up with the same sex, in that case it will be a homo relationship because we are of the same sex. But I'm still bi. The relationship and the people in the relationship are two different things.

If Michael ends up with a woman he will be a bisexual man in a hetero relationship. If he ends up with a man he will be in a homo relationship. He's still bisexual in both cases. A different sex relationship is not a queer relationship even if the people in it are. In a hetero relationship I'm a queer person, in a hetero relationship. If I'm with the opposite sex I'll be a queer person in a queer relationship.

My relationship ≠ me

I know people see it differently and it's not a problem for me, there is no "right" way to is it in this case, no "problematic" answer, it's just a matter of perspective.
