Both are true, though it depends on the partner in question. Ordinarily he will be more focused on leaving a good impression and strengthening his reputation than on having a good time himself, and will therefore be quite active and generous in bed. However, sometimes he wants nothing more than to throw money at a harlot for selfish pleasure, or if he has grown bored of them or finds them distasteful in some way.
