I’ve always loved his curly hair, so I made sure to incorporate it. Although I imagine his firstborn as a girl, that image already exists in abundance, and I wanted to explore a different possibility by giving him a son.

Cullen + human warrior = perfection !

It had been said so many times but I'm in the mood to emphasize it because that is exactly what I stand behind too: YES Cullen Rutherford is a conservative man, who values (human!) traditions, who respects the chantry even when he leaves the templar order but that is mainly because of the past trauma (circle tower + Kirkwall) and the fact how easily manipulated templars can be (lyrium addiction), he loves stability and the idea of a traditional family, he is careful towards magic and the romance idea of pairing him with a mage/elf goes into the direction of wishful thinking, because that is like + and - and I'm convinced that canon Cullen would want a human woman (warrior) for a serious relationship which is what he is looking for anyway (he is not a one night stand man). I think he would give a human mage a chance, if he really falls for her, but I do not see canon Cullen with an elven girl at all when being very realistic here. They added the possibility to the game to give the people who choose an elf a chance to romance him, but it makes no sense in this context.
