Mike and I were working on a new D&D character he's playing temporarily, and we were looking at common/uncommon magical items for him to start with and came up with one of the funniest possible combinations
There's a ring that's clearly supposed to be used for NPCs that's basically when a character hits 0 hp they die immediately, with the idea that it's the magical equivalent of one of those cyanide pills for spies if they get caught
But there's also a magical ring that protects you telepathically and for some reason has the added effect that when you die, your soul can go into this ring and then you can telepathically communicate with whoever attunes to the ring next, and they can't do anything to stop you
imagine a world where Mike is already making this intentionally kind of annoying guy as a side character, and then he gets to 0 hp, immediately dies, his soul goes into this ring, and then one of the other players attunes to the ring and Mike just has to be a kind of annoying voice in a ring AND be his normal character
