What is this? Another Mogai Archival blog? 

Hello! Our name is Fishtank(They/Them), and this is our archiving blog of cultural, racial, religious, minority groups, linguistic, etc terms and flags! Our main blog is @milo-by-the-fishtank . We are Cajun-Creole(of mixed indigenous descent) and Czechoslovakian/FinnoScandinavian, we are phenotypically white.

We created this blog so that these groups of people can have an easier access to/time finding specific/exclusive flags for themselves!

The tagging system is still in the works, if you have any suggestions, then please tell me! Feel free to @ us for archival purposes, there’s no need to ask!

DNI is really simple, if you’re a racist/bigot of any kind you can go fuck yourself! We are pro-Palestinian here, we also love our Jewish siblings. If you can’t deal with that, you can go fuck off. We believe in the liberation of the working class and of the people, if you don’t like that, you can fuck off! We believe in land back, if you don’t like that, you can go fuck off! If you believe in religious superiority or complete religious destruction, you can fuck off! Basically if you’re a prejudice asshole, please DNI this place is not for you!

If you transrace/transculture/etc and you are using terms that are specifically made for [x] bodily people, let alone breaking somebody’s DNI, I will fucking eat you. transrace/transculture/etc dni.

What a terrible flag! No wonder Esperanto never caught on as a "world language".

Maybe a color that didn't scream 256-color-display-default-green would help the case. This hurts my eyes!

The flag doesn't look like normal flag proportions, but it's close enough that it throws you off. Same with the white canton (the Canton of Peace, I'll call it). The star has 5 points for 5 continents which is OK and certainly more inspired than any world flag I've seen (seriously guys, someone send me a GOOD world flag design and we'll start heavily campaigning for it).

I do like that green is the color for Esperanto, I just think this flag in particular is blinding. And if you're gonna say white symbolizes peace, and peace is something you're promoting through open communication (or one earth-wide language, which I'm amazed some people still believe in as a worthy and inoffensive goal), then maybe think about what it says to have white take up such a puny portion of your flag. I don't have a horse in the race, but come on Esperanto, inspire us!

Appalachia in a Nutshell

The Appalachian flag:

Yikes. Most of me just wants to commend the creator of this flag because they cared enough to create a flag for the region. The saving grace of this flag is that it is only a proposal; there is no official flag of Appalachia, and perhaps if a movement forms, they will quickly see this flag as a primitive and incomplete design, and move forward with something better, and hopefully, more design-y and less "we threw some shapes together, do you like it?"-y.

The only thing I like about this flag is the way the "mountain" crosses the star neatly at 2 of its armpits. The colors don't go well together, the white star feels bleak, although (or because) it is meant to symboilze purity. The brown bar at the bottom saves it from symmetry and yet... looks like something I would make in MS Paint (I'm pretty sure that brown color is an MS Paint default). I will say, though, kudos for having brown in your flag. We all know how rare that is (and how un-rare other flag colors are, based on an entirely unscientific graph by me).

In my searches, I found another proposal that I like a LOT but am finding it hard to back because it is basically a flaggification of a shopping center in West Virginia that highlights West Virginia crafts and Appalachian culture.

The description on the website is very simple, and yet, explains it all.

The flag features an Appalachian Star. The thirteen stripes represent the thirteen states within the Appalachian Homeland.

The star and colors are from the Tamarack cultural heritage initiative. 

Too bad it's all an ad.
