Traditional Serbian cuisine is diverse and nutritious. The country’s geographical location means it was influenced by the cuisines of a variety of other cultures such as the Byzantines, Italians, Turks and Austro-Hungarians. It shares many similarities with other Balkan cuisines, but there are also a lot of regional specialities.
1.Đuveč - Usually prepared in traditional earthenware pots; can include meat, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, herbs and spices
2.Škembići - soup made from tripe (stomach lining), vegetables, potatoes and spices
3.Boranija - yellow bean stew in red sauce
4.Sač - the name of both the dish and the ceramic or metal pot in which it is cooked; the dish can include dough, meat, vegetables and fish
5.Pljeskavica - grilled, spiced ground meat party, usually served with onions, ajvar and flatbread
6.Pogača - traditional bread
7.Domaća supa - chicken or beef soup with noodles or dumplings
8.Urnebes - relish made of feta cheese and hot peppers
9.Punjene paprike - stuffed peppers with rice and minced meat
