//casually starts to sing for Mika. <3
Heavy footsteps echoed in Sanguinem’s streets. Mika wandered through them, his blue eyes distant and seeing everything but what was in front of him. Children scurried out of the guard’s way, but for once Mikaela took little note of them. instead his eyes saw his family, watched over and over the events in Shinjuku, replayed each moment wondering what he’d done wrong, why he hadn’t been able to save his family.
They were using him, those wretched humans were using Yu and he wouldn’t forgive them. So why…? Why couldn’t he save him?
Lost in his thoughts he hadn’t realized who had approached, had only registered footsteps until the voice slips into the air, a song in a world otherwise devoid of any music. His eyes briefly close, take in the sounds of the melody woven behind him. Its a song he doesn’t know, but then even when young he hadn’t been very familiar with music. Still it calms his turning thoughts, briefly overtakes the memories of Yu screaming in pain in his ears, the sight of him twisted and stumbling in agony, the guilt of knowing that Mika couldn’t save him from it. For a few minutes all he knew was the hymn that filled the air.
“Did you write that one too?” He asked, without turning, perhaps that an acknowledgment of trust more than anything from the younger vampire.
“It’s nice.”
Somehow his chest didn’t feel quite so heavy.
